„Design of algorithms for real-time optimization of specific ECU (Electric Control Unit)
functions“
Bosch is the largest supplier of automotive technology, and one of Germany’s largest industrial
enterprises, with a significant international presence.
The “Control engineering” group at Robert Bosch GmbH, Corporate Research is an international team
of highly motivated scientists. Our task is to explore, evaluate and develop new concepts, methods and
applications for the design of Mechatronic Systems in cooperation with Robert Bosch Product
Divisions. The company provides excellent personal perspectives.

Your Task: Design of algorithms for real-time optimization of specific ECU functions
- Comparison of different algorithms for constraint real-time optimization (e.g. gradient/BFGS
projection method, SQP, …)
- Analyse the performances of the developed algorithms
- Implementation and test of the methods on the specific ECU function (e.g. optimized cylinder
filling, hybrid strategy for a car with electric machine and combustion engine)

Requirements: You are a student of computer science, computer engineering or electrical

engineering at a university or an engineer school.
- You have a good knowledge and understanding of Control Engineering concepts and practices.
- You have a good mathematical background.
- You are able to think conceptually and express ideas clearly, convincingly and concisely,
verbally and in writing.
- You are fluent in English or in German.
- You have a good knowledge of Matlab/Simulink
