Reflective Journal Five

This past weekend and week has been incredibly busy but also a lot of fun. Over the

weekend we went to Seoul. On Friday we went to Bosingak and had the honor of getting to ring

the bell during the bell ringing ceremony. After that we went to the museum about Hangul and

then went shopping where I got some souvenirs for my family, then got Korean fried chicken for

dinner. On Saturday we went to Gyeongbokgung Palace and got to wear hanbok while exploring.

After that we went to the Hanok Village to see the traditional houses. Then we went to Namsan

tower and got to ride to the top. Finally, we went to the baseball game. On Sunday we went to

the Korean War Museum and the National Museum of Korea. Overall it was a crazy busy

weekend and after getting back we had to work to finish our lesson plans but it so an absolute

blast and I would not change it for the world.

Monday, we started teaching out second and final lesson to the Kyunghwa students.

Patrick and I’s lesson is about onomatopoeias and haikus. After teaching them the

onomatopoeias we have the students make some haikus using the onomatopoeias, which has lead

to some really good poems from the students about anything from swimming, to eating chicken,

or “swag Greg.” Overall, I have really enjoyed teaching this lesson and it seems like the students

have enjoyed learning it as well.
