GEOFFREY CHAUCER (1343 – 25 October 1400) was an English poet and author.
Widely considered the greatest English poet of the Middle Ages, he is best known for The
Canterbury Tales. Chaucer has been styled the "Father of English literature" and was the
first writer buried in Poets' Corner of Westminster Abbey.

JANE AUSTEN (born December 16, 1775, Steventon, Hampshire, England—died July

ELIZABETH BARRETT BROWNING (born March 6, 1806, near Durham, Durham
county, England—died June 29, 1861, Florence, Italy), English poet whose reputation
rests chiefly upon her love poems, Sonnets from the Portuguese and Aurora Leigh, the
latter now considered an early feminist text. Her husband was Robert Browning. She was
an English poet of the Victorian era, popular in Britain and the United States during her
lifetime. Born in County Durham, the eldest of 12 children. Elizabeth Barrett wrote poetry from
about the age of six.
