PLURAL FORMS: A BIBLIOMETRIC REVIEW

PLURAL FORMS: A BIBLIOMETRIC REVIEW. A balance between vertical integration and
outsourcing remains a relevant issue when technology revolution and the internet
create new opportunities to reshape supply chain strategies. Among others, Agency
Theory, Transaction Costs Economics and Resource Based View aimed to explain the
vertical boundaries of firms. Nevertheless, faced with plural forms, seemingly no
theory has been completely successful so far. Are there prevalent theories or
research methods? Which industries have been studied? Is there an emergent subject?
To answer these questions, this article proposes a systematic review from the Web
of Science database using the Citespace software. 66 articles were identified. The
findings include tendency of theories integrative use, apparently saturated
franchise literature and dual sourcing research concentrated on few industries,
while dual channel literature expands, mainly studied using game theory and
modeling.
