Sizes
Finished bust measurements, worked at gauge, and after blocking:
83/87/90/93/97/100/103/107/110/113/117/120/123/127/130/133cm =
33/34.25/35.5/38/39.25/40.5/42/43/44.5/45.25/46/47.25/48.5/50/51/52.25”
Sample is worked in size 1 with no ease. More measurements and a schematic are found on page 6.

Materials
Yarn: I recommend that you use a sport weight yarn with great stitch-definition. It is important that you work
according to gauge to achieve a great result! I used ”Organic Cotton” from Krea Deluxe.
This yarn is of sport weight and comes in balls of 50gr/1.76oz and 165meters/180yards.
You will need 5/5/6/6/6/7/7/7/8/8/8/9/9/9/10/10 balls of this yarn to work the cardigan.
Needles: A long circular needle, 80cm/32”, needle size 3mm/US2.5 the ribbed hem and neckline of the body.
A long circular needle, 80cm/32”, needle size 3.5mm/US4 to work the lower body. You can use the same
circular needle, or straight needles size 3.5mm/US4 to work the upper back and front.
A circular needle 40cm/16”, needle size 3.5mm/US4 to work the sleeve-cap.
Dpns (or a circular needle if working the magic loop), needle size 3.5mm/US4 to work the sleeves.
Dpns (or a circular needle if working the magic loop), needle size 3mm/US2.5 to work the cuffs.
Important: Use the needle size needed to obtain gauge!
Notions: 2 stitch-markers. Tapestry needle. Separate holders.

Gauge
For best results take the time to check your gauge! 24 sts and 29 rows = 10x10cm/4x4”
in rib-pattern (RS rows: (k1tbl, p3) WS rows: (k3, p1tbl), after washing and blocking.

Abbreviations
K = knit / p = purl / st, sts = stitch, stitches / pm = place marker / sm = slip marker / RS = right side of work
WS = wrong side of work / k2tog = knit 2 sts together
k1tbl = knit 1 st through the back-loop / p1tbl = purl 1 st through the back-loop
w&t = wrap and turn: bring the yarn to front of work between the needles. Slip the next st, place it on your
right hand needle, place the yarn around this st to back of work, slip st back to your left-hand needle.
Turn work and continue into the other direction.

Knitting instructions
The top is knit seamlessly in the following order:

- Lower body is worked bottom up and in-the-round starting from a long-tail cast on, then a ribbed
hem. The main body is worked in rib-pattern. Lower body is worked to underarms where you
divide work for upper back and upper front to be continued flat in separate pieces.

- The upper back is worked flat in rib-pattern. The upper section is worked in rib (k1, p1).
- The upper front is worked flat in rib-pattern. Neck is shaped by binding off sts. When all sts are
bound off you pick up sts for the upper section that is worked in rib (k1, p1).

- Shoulders are worked together using the 3-need

- Sleeves are worked top down, starting from the sleeve-cap that is created using short-rows back
and forth. From underarms sleeves are continued in the round in stockinette, and finished with a
section of eyelets and stockinette sts before the ribbed cuff.

2
Cast on for lower body
Using a circular needle 3mm/US2.5, 80cm/32” long,
cast on 200/208/216/224/232/240/248/256/264/272/280/288/296/304/312/320 sts.
You can use the longtail cast-on method, or your preferred method.

Ribbed hem:

Row 1 (RS): (k1, p1), repeat (-) to end of row.

Place sts in the round (make sure not to twist them), pm in front of the first st.
Continue work in-the-round and from RS.
All rounds start from marker (placed on the right side of the sweater).
Round 1 (RS): (k1, p1), repeat (-) to marker
Round 2 (RS): sm, (k1, p1), repeat (-) to marker
Repeat round 2 until the ribbed hem measures 7.5cm/3”, ending at marker. End of ribbed hem.

Main – body:

Change to needles 3.5mm/US4. Start from marker.

Round 1: (p2, k1tbl, p1), repeat (-) to end of round.
Continue work repeating round 1, until work measures 33cm/13” (or desired length),
measured from the cast-on. End at marker

Dividing work for back and front

Work should measure 14/14/15/15/15/15/17/17/17/17/18/18/18/18/20/20cm =
5.5/5.5/6/6/6/6/6.75/6.75/6.75/6.75/7/7/7/7/8/8”,
measured from the underarm to the highest point on each side.

Section of rib-pattern, k1, p1:

RS: using the circular (or straight) needle 3mm/US2.5 pick up and knit 1 st from 1 st below each of the bound-
off sts. You have 99/103/107/111/115/119/123/127/131/135/139/143/147/151/155/159 sts on the needle.
Work in rib-pattern:
Row 1 (WS): p1, (p1, k1), repeat (-) to end of row
Row 2 (RS): k1, (k1, p1), repeat (-) until 2 sts remaining in the row, k2
Continue work repeating rows 1 and 2 until the section of k1, p1 measures 4cm/1.5”. End with a WS row.
Bind off for neck:
RS: work in pattern as established over 20/22/23/25/26/28/29/31/32/34/35/37/38/40/41/43 sts,
bind off 59/59/61/61/63/63/65/65/67/67/69/69/71/71/73/73 sts in p sts (or rib-pattern),
work in pattern as established over the remaining 20/22/23/25/26/28/29/31/32/34/35/37/38/40/41/43 sts.
You don’t need to break yarn.

Turn garment inside-out. Bind off shoulders from WS:

Place the 20/22/23/25/26/28/29/31/32/34/35/37/38/40/41/43 sts of the right side of front on a needle, work
the sts together with the sts of the right shoulder of the back, from WS, using the 3-needle bind-off method.
Work the left shoulder together in the same way.

Sleeves
Both sleeves are worked in the same way.
Sts are picked up and knit around the armhole opening, integrating the underarm sts from the body.
Sts are picked up from RS, 1 st from the edge, a circular needle.
The shaping of the sleeve cap is created by short rows knit back and forth from the top of the sleeve cap to the
underarm. You do not need to pick up the wraps.
When all sts are integrated, sleeve is worked top-down and in the round until desired length.

Using a small circular needle size 3.5mm/US4: pm, pick up and knit
36/36/40/40/40/40/44/44/44/44/48/48/48/48/52/52 sts from the shoulder join to the underarm, pm,
pick up and knit 36/36/40/40/40/40/44/44/44/44/48/48/48/48/52/52 sts from the underarm to shoulder join.

Shaping the sleeve-cap, starting from the shoulder join:

Row 1 (RS): sm, (k1tbl, p3), repeat (-) until you have worked 16 sts past the marker at the shoulder join, w&t
(please note: seen from RS the sleeve is worked in rib-pattern (k1tbl, p3).
WS rows are worked in pattern (k3, p1tbl). All integrated sts are worked into pattern.
Row 2 (WS): work in rib-pattern (p1tbl, k3) until you have worked 16 sts past the shoulder join,
(where you slip the marker) w&t
Row 3 (RS): work in rib-pattern (k1tbl, p3) as established until the wrapped st,
work the wrapped st in pattern, work 3 sts in pattern as established, w&t
Row 4 (WS): work in rib-pattern (p1tbl, k3) as established until the wrapped st, work the wrapped st in pattern,
work 3 sts in pattern to match, w&t
Repeat rows 3 and 4 until you have 7 sts remaining from the center of the underarm.
In the following RS row: work in pattern as established until the wrapped st, work the wrapped st in pattern,
continue from RS in pattern until the marker placed at the underarm, sm.
Work is continued in-the-round. All rounds start from the marker at the center of the underarm.
You have 72/72/80/80/80/80/88/88/88/88/96/96/96/96/104/104 sts in the round.
Sts are divided evenly over 4 dpns, (or 2 halves of a circular needle if working magic loop).
You have no longer use for the marker at the shoulder join, it can be omitted.
Round 1 (RS): sm, (k1tbl, p3), repeat (-) to end of round
Continue work repeating round 1 until sleeve measures 12.5cm/5”, measured from the underarm.
Change to needles 3mm/US2.5. Continue in rib-pattern, k1, p1:
Round 1 (RS): sm, (k1, p1), repeat (-) to end of round.
Continue work repeating round 1 until the cuff measures 4cm/1.25”. Bind off all sts in purl sts, or in pattern.
Break and secure yarn.

Finishing
Turn garment inside out. Weave in loose ends, as invisibly as possible.
If necessary wash and block your garment in accordance with the instructions for your yarn.
If steam-blocking I suggest that you avoid the parts worked in k1, p1.

Ready to wear and to cherish😊😊 I would love to see your sweater at Ravelry😊😊
