Theoretical Conceptual Framework

Theory:

The hippocampus is involved in the formation and retrieval of explicit memories. This is where the
chemicals in an aroma or essential oil trigger learned memory. Inhaled oils also reach the lungs and
enter the bloodstream through the respiratory system (Halcon & Buckle, 2006, p. 337).

Indicators

1. Aromatherapy can be used to treat a wide variety of problems seen in mental health, neurological and
long term conditions.

Variables:

Independent - aromatic property of c. Reticulata as essential oil.

Dependent - effect on levels of transient emotional stress

Research Problem

OOS:

1. Test the effectiveness of citrus microcarpa as an alternative essential oil for transient emotional stress.
2. Compare the timespan of c. microcarpa essential oil in aromatherapy compared to commercialized
essential oil.

3. Assimilate the effectiveness of c. microcarpa as an anti-depressant essential oil for transient emotional
stress compared to commercialized essential oil.

Sub problem:

1. Test the efficacy of aromatherapy in nursing transient emotional problems.

Null hypothesis

1. Citrus microcarpa is not effective essential oil for transient emotional stress.

2. C. microcarpa oil has no significant effect in transient emotional stress.

3. C. microcarpa is not effective anti-depressant oil for transient emotional stress compared to other
commercialized essential oil.
