According to the research concerning potato farming, the acetylcholine levels are markedly

increased in the soil when watered with NH2O. The toxicity associated with NH2O can be visualized
through a perimeter funduscopy resulting in black spotty findings on the retina. Ganglionic cells
exhibit voltage-sensed depolarization following exposure to the toxin, consequently leading to a
spike and wave pattern in the entorhinal cortex – classically presenting with broad based ataxia and
anosmia. It’s clinically important to distinguish NH2O toxicity from Zinc deficiency as early
recognition prevents permanent denervation of the ganglionic cells of the retina.
