Conclusion

The objectives of this experiment are to determining the directions of magnetic lines of
magnetic field and to distinguish the differences of magnetic field between like and unlike poles.
The group was able to draw the magnetic fields produced by different arrangement of the
bar magnets. The lines that were formed by the iron dusts represent the magnetic field around the
magnets. The iron dusts can help to determine the strength and direction of the magnetic field
and the size of the field. Based on the group’s drawing as shown, same/alike poles repel because
both poles have the same charges/magnetic force and opposite poles attract each other because
the magnetic force pushes the apart. It also shows that magnetism is a long-range force. Magnets
need not touch each other to exert a force other but magnetic force weakens as the poles are
brought further from each other. Also, the magnetic field of a bar magnet is strongest at either
pole of the magnet. It is equally strong at the north pole compared with the south pole. The force
is weaker in the middle of the magnet and halfway between the pole and center.
