Mrs. Marjoreeh Lynn Borgonia is a progressivist and behaviorist teacher.
During the class, she serves as
the guide of the students in the course of their learning. She is competent in the content of the subject and is very knowledgeable in methods of inquiry, the lessons are not solely directly given by her but are drawn out critically and initiate plans during activities. Moreover, she is process oriented and with whole student orientation. She used to group the students when reading a book or doing an activity and share it to everyone. Mrs. Borgonia is a strong behaviorist who rewards and praises students for successful answers. When giving instructions, she made sure that her students are in good condition based on their behavior. The teacher focuses on a new behavioural pattern being repeated until it becomes habitual. The use conditioning is very visible especially in establishing routines. Routines are very effective means not only in saving time but also in maintaining order inside the classroom. Mrs. Borgonia will raise his/her hand and sign as if counting 1-3. This signals that papers should be passed at the count of three. I can also observe in her class that drills are helpful specially in retention and improvement of learning. Allot a time for drills, practice and exercise especially before giving a test. She always to give feedbacks and point out the things that need to be improved. Mrs. Borgonia let her students have proper mind sets before starting a lesson. A pre-activity, mini-game, warm up exercise, songs, energizers, icebreakers and a lot more. Rewards can be an effective means to motivate learners. However, use this very wisely especially in giving material rewards. I can also remember how she praises me when i got the highest score in the test. By that i realized that inner and non-material rewards like self-fulfillment, self improvement, positive emotions, praises and compliments are more fulfilling than any material rewards. I conclude that Mrs. Marjoreeh Borgonia is more likely to have the characteristics of behaviorist teacher.
