GS Engineering &Construction Mumbai Pvt. Ltd. GET 2015-16 - TRAINING REPORT A. Base Data: 1. Name of the GET: AmeyaS.Phadke 2. Discipline: Mechanical Static 3. Reporting Period: 1" to 15" October 2015 Design of pressure vessel {n the actual designing of any pressure vessel, following loadings are considered together. They are as follows Internal pressure External pressure ‘Wind toading Seismic loading Snow, rain loading (if req.) Local loadings These all loadings are calculated case by case and governing of them all is considered for the vessel designing For recognizing the governing case 3 major parameters are considered they are as follows, 1. Applied moment (wind, seismic) 2. Weight condition (test, operating, empty etc) 3. Concition (corroded, new) Based upon these 3 parameters calculations are done forall possible combinations. The highest value is taken as, governing case. Following are the general steps in designing pressure vessel Calculate thickness of vessel for internal pressure. Check the acceptance of given thickness to external pressure condition. If it satisfies proceed, if not we can elther increase the thickness, or provide stiffeners. 3. MAWP, MDMT weights, test pressures etc. are calculated 4. Wind and seismic moments for above combinations are calculated and governing case is taken. 5. 6. Nozzles, platform and ladders, support calculations are done. The vessel is checked for combined loading and validated. Here in this session, we have considered each loading and operating case separately and procedure is followed to completely calculate and design vessels manually. The cases we have taken are 1. Wind +mpty+ corroded 2. Selsmict operating + corroded ‘The comparison of the manual calculation with COMPRESS result is made and given. ‘This report is attached with manual calculation sheets and comparison sheet.
