1 Introduction
This document describes how to use the QFlashTool software.

2 Installation
This chapter provides information needed to install the QFlashTool applications.

2.1 Install QFlashTool software

1. In Windows Explorer, locate the setup.exe file in the directory. Double-click the setup.exe file
to launch the setup program.
2. Follow the instructions provided by the installer.
3. When the Setup Complete dialog appears, the application has been installed successfully.
4. Click Finish to complete the installation.
3 Target Device State
The QFlashTool is used to flash a build image into a target in High-Level Operating System (HLOS)
mode (normal bootup).

3.1 HLOS mode

If a device is in HLOS mode, during the download process QFlashTool automatically switches the
target to EDL mode and then loads the build into the phone. When the phone boots up with no
issues and the HLOS is running, the target will be enumerated as Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics
9091 in both Device Manager and on the QFlashTool main screen.
4 Operation Guide

4.1 Start QFlashTool

To launch QFlashTool, click Start > Programs > QFlashTool > QFlashTool. The figure illustrates the
QFLashTool main screen when no target device is attached to the computer.

4.2 Download the build image

The build images were organized in the following ways: 


  Meta build – Images are organized in folders that follow the Meta build structure.

The Meta build organization is captured by the contents.xml file, which can be located at the root
folder of the Meta build.

1. Click Load Content to load the contents.xml file. Browse to the Meta build location and
select contents.xml. Click Open.
2. Plug in a target device in HLOS mode to an available USB port.

3. Click Download Content to start the download. During download, all of the function buttons
are dimmed and will be re-enabled after downloading is complete. The Status field displays
the updated files and the images currently being programmed into the target device.
4. When the download has completed successfully, done and all Finished successfully
messages display in the Status field.
4.3 Auto Download

If select Auto Download checkbox, when plug in a target device, it can auto download
without clicking the Download button.
