"I speak Hebrew, Arabic, Russian and English but my family taught me the most
important language of all - the language of welcoming. I don't have a lock on the door
and I never know who will be in my home. Everyone is welcome."
MY PERSONAL STORY: God chose us to live in this land - as Jews, Muslims and
Christians. We are living here for life, and we have to live together. I don't like to say
any bad words about Jews. We need to find a good way of life together – as good
friends, as a family - we are the seeds of Ibrahim [Abraham].
But the law is different. Don't think we are just shouting against the wall [protesting
against the new security 'fence']. Some Jews shout strongly as well. They can see that
wall is so ugly. Arab and Jewish people together will destroy it. And I believe all that
concrete in that wall will be dumped in the sea. It will be used for something else.
When I was a boy, my father worked as a guard for the Russian church, and always
the Christians, the Muslims and the Jews were welcome into our home. We had a
guesthouse, where we welcomed guests without making a business of it. The way I
keep the home today, it is like the guesthouse my parents kept. It continues as my job.
There are many beautiful things that I carry over from my parents. My father died in
1981. We have a lot of books written about us. As a boy I met and talked to many
people from around the world. People give me a lot of energy.
WHY I WANT PEACE: People don't hear the news about the goodness; they only
hear about the bad things in my country. No-one saw what happened the day after
Israeli forces bulldozed 100 houses in Jenin, when a lot of Jews and Christians came
to a special hospital on the Mount of Olives to give blood for the Palestinians in Jenin
and in the camps.
2
Does anybody hear about this goodness in Europe and USA? People who have never
been here think there is a wall between the Arabs and the Jews and that we are both
dangerous people. We are both really good people. People around the world don't
know much about our lives. We welcome everyone to our home, to our land.
I live in a safe, peaceful home. Always I have Jews, Christians, Muslims and all
people from around the world visiting me and my family. Some time ago I had my
son's wedding, and Jews, Christians and Muslims came and danced in one hall
together, 500 people joining with love from the heart.
The world doesn't know about the people who are sitting down face-to-face on the
ground, asking God to bless Ibrahim (Abraham) and the seeds of Ibrahim and to bless
Mohammed and the seeds of Mohammed. Ibrahim is the father of those two brothers,
two sons and the seeds of those sons, the Jew and the Muslim here, in this land. They
don't know how much love we have one for another, and how we help one another,
how we share bread, we smell the same air, we drink the same water and we eat the
same food
For over 30 years he has been involved in peace and reconciliation efforts between
Arabs and Jews in the Holy Land.
SOMETHING YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT ME: People from around the world regard
me as an Arab. An Arab, yes, that is right, but there are 22 Arab countries in the world,
and the whole Arab world is not mine. It is easier for me to travel to Europe or the US
than to most Arab countries. I don't have citizenship anywhere in the world, but I
believe I am a citizen of the world. I am a man without a country, without a passport.
Although I have lived here all my life, all I have is a special residency in Israel. We ask
the government to treat us as people who want to live here and give us rights, for
3
example, for our children to go out to study and come back when they want. We have
a lot of love, which we have learnt from our religion, love and peace. A lot of goodness
has happened in the land between Jewish and Palestinian brothers, the seeds of
Abraham.
Haj Ibrahim Ahmad Abu El-Hawa is a Peacemaker living on the Mount of Olives in
Jerusalem. He has spent his life being a walking symbol of hope, peace and
generosity. Bringing peace has always been his way of life – from speaking at massive
public gatherings to milking cows with local groups. He is a dear friend to all faiths.
Muslims, Jews, Christians, atheists . . . he loves his neighbors and would like to
welcome YOU into his home.
With a view of the Israeli/Palestinian Separation Wall from his window, Ibrahim's wish
to make peace is visceral. "It is our destiny to live here in the Holy Land together, and
only our hearts can change the world."
The Peace House was established over 30 years ago in order to “bring light to the
needy”, and has been run using only donations ever since. With his welcoming
Bedouin heritage, Ibrahim warmly offers a space for peacemakers, travelers and the
needy where they can eat, sleep and collaborate for free.
Ibrahim “lives to give” and his mission is to "love our neighbor, as ourselves". He has
given his life and his life savings to this philosophy, working tirelessly and speaking to
millions worldwide. His peace work has been directed at all religions, cultures and
faiths. This work is what led him to co-founding Jerusalem Peacemakers.
A wall in the kitchen is plastered with photos and letters, relics that bear testimony to
the various adventures Ibrahim has had since dedicating himself to the sizeable task
of bringing peace to Israel and Palestine. Whether speaking before audiences of 1.25
million in India to being invited to the House of Lords in England, to milking cows with
local peace groups, Ibrahim is more bemused than anyone at the impressive
experiences his journey has led him to, particularly the unexpected admiration he has
gained from celebrities like Richard Gere and Alicia Keys.
‘I am just a tiny man. A nobody! Yet life has taken me to India on a stage with Ravi
Shankan in front of 1.25million listening to what I say’
Commenting on the conflict, Ibrahim explains: ‘I have this house to invite people in and
speak about non-violence, I am against all violence. People must build bridges to one
another’.
4
‘We are so far apart from each other as people here. There is no speaking to each
other. There is the highest degree of separation because the Israeli does not know
me.’

as multas.
No
anos anteriores, ele ganhava salários escassos, porém agora são ornamentais.
familiares.

The Abrahamic Reunion’s story is one of hope in the midst of conflict; unity amidst
division; friendship irrespective of religion, race, political identity, gender, or age;
and belief that change is possible heart to heart even in the most difficult
situations, from the grassroots up.
The AR is a team of religious & spiritual leaders – men, women, Jewish, Muslim,
Christian, & Druze – dedicated to uplifting human consciousness and building
peace in the Holy Land by opening hearts to the love and wisdom of all spiritual
traditions. Founded in 2004, The Abrahamic Reunion has been to two Parliaments
Of The Worlds’ Religions as featured presenters, and has convened inter-religious
peacemaking dinners every year since 2006. During the 50-Day Gaza War of 2014,
AR leaders decided to begin organizing one event every month to bring more
people together to fuel the causes of tolerance, amity, understanding, and
harmonious coexistence. These events brought people together during the War in
ways that weren’t thought possible and provided the energy the AR needed to
continue to develop, registering in subsequent years as a nonprofit in Israel, and
US, with affiliate organizations in Germany and the UK.
The Abrahamic Reunion seeks to be a living example of our values and beliefs; to
find and support other spiritual peace makers and organizations; to provide
training for those interested in spiritual peacemaking; and to create and implement
interfaith programs, celebrations, youth activities, women’s programs, prison de-
radicalization programs, lectures, and other educational initiatives.
Our programs are held regularly across the Holy Land, UK, USA, and Germany.

If we don’t act now, his grief might worsen his health condition
and he may be imprisoned because, as a pensioner, he is
financially unable to pay the high fine. As well, part of
Ibrahim's newly built house may be demolished. The additions
were built in order to tend to the needs of his growing family,
which includes three deaf and mute sisters of Ibrahim’s wife
whom his family cares for daily.
