#1_CONCEPTION; sukshmasharira, the spirit, or

subtle body falls from the Moon (ancestors) to return to

resembles those things which the mother thinks in her mind

INTRODUCTION; references by Ptolemy and others to "the

conception figure" or "the moment of conception" are, in fact,
references to the moment of insemination or coitus, fertilisation
of the egg cannot be fully pinpointed. A chart that is ultimately
successful in producing a child (conception) must surely show the
seeds of actions which ripen in the womb to become formed
behaviour patterns. If we take this stance, then the Pre-Natal Epoch
might be telling us something quite different. It may be showing
us the drive behind the natal chart, the un-manifested energies,
latent potentials, or raw resources of the psyche prior to the

STATUS OF PARENTS at conception; The seventh house of

the conception chart shows the mental and emotional qualities
between the parents at the moment of creating the individual. This
seventh house sign then becomes the rashi or navamsha lagna of
the individual’s birth chart. In this way, the guna (levels of rajas and
seventh house sign then becomes the rashi or navamsha lagna of

tamas) and doshas (levels of the elements) of the parents dominant
at the time of conception influences the nature of the child as stated
in the Ayurveda texts.
Women’s fertility peak during the moon phase that matches the one
under which they were born.
Women most fertile days are when the mid-cycle ovulation matches
up with their natal lunar phase. that is Women fertility peaks when
the moon and Sun are in that same angular relationship (tithi) that in
the birth chart every month.
There’s evidence that a man’s libido is at peak when the moon is in
the sign he was born in. so it is also 2 1/4 days every month
menstruation: the first five days are ruled by Mars (bleeding)
followed by Saturn ruling the next 5 days (6th to 10th days)
indicating formation of tissue and the likelihood of conception is very
low. However Jupiter rules the next eight days (11th to 18th) and it is
during this period that conception occurs as the uterus can receive
the egg. The next twelve days presided by Mercury (7) and Venus
(5) show the hardening of the walls and destruction of tissue.

Beeja-Kshetra Sphuta (BS/ KS): The man's strength for impregnation
depends on Sun and strength of semen on Venus. In females, sound
condition of the ovary is denoted by Moon and the fitness of ovum by
Mars. The conception takes place when the seed (Beeja Sphuta) is
healthy and the soil (Kshetra Sphuta) is fertile. For males, Beeja
Sphuta (BS) is the sum of the longitudes of Sun, Jupiter & Venus.
For females The Kshetra sphuta (KS) is the sum of the longitudes of
Jupiter, Moon & Mars. If the BS is in odd sign & odd Navamsha,
virility is assured; and KS in even sign & even Navamsha denote
fertile soil ensuring conception. If either Sphuta is odd in one & even
in another, the male/ female need medical treatment to get a child
after delay/ difficulty. If BS is in even sign in Rashi and Navamsha
and KS in odd sign in Rashi and Navamsha, the seed/ soil is
defective. BS in 9th house show low virility and KS in 5th house
denote miscarriages. If either Sphuta is afflicted by malefics or the
5th/ 9th from it is occupied by a malefic, it may not give the desired
results. Also; Rahu should not join these Sphuta in either male/
5th/ 9th from it is occupied by a malefic, it may not give the desired
results. Also; Rahu should not join these Sphuta in either male/
female charts. On the other hand, if either Sphuta is aspected/
conjoined with benefics, strong and favourable results occur.
Similarly if the Sphuta is in 2nd, 5th or 11th house, it indicates good
promise.
Arudh Pada: Another method to ascertain procreative power is
through Arudh pada. Determine the Arudh padas of 3rd & 9th house
from
Lagna (A-3 & A-9) and from Sun (AS-3 & AS-9). Arudh pada from
Sun denotes strength of the sperm while Arudh pada from lagna
constitute physical
ability. If the Sun is in 2, 6, 8 or 12th from As-3 or As-9, or Mercury/
Saturn conjoins it, or the 5th from it, is afflicted, it constitute infertility.
But if only one
set is inflicted, child birth is delayed but not denied but medical
attention is required to rectify/ strengthen the semen. In case of
female, replace Sun
by Moon.
Nishekam: The first time a couple comes physically together is
called Nishekam. This used to be an event of great importance and
used to be timed with great care and precision. This is deemed to
influence not only the quality of their own married life but also of the
children they would have in future.

Menstrual Cycle and Fertility: As per classics, the first three nights
after menstrual cycle begins, are not consider safe. On the first night,
it can render husband weak and vulnerable disease. If on 2nd night,
lady's heath is adversely affected. If on 3rd night, the conception
may result in mentally
retarded child. Thereafter next two weeks are considered very fertile.
According to Vaidyanath Dikshitar, the children conceived during this
period
will be as follows:
i) On 4th night- A short lived son.
ii) On 5th night- A girl.
iii) On 6th night- A son who brings glory to parents.
iv) On 7th night- A barren female child.
v) On 8th night- A son.
vi) On 9th night- A beautiful daughter.
vii) On 10th night- A kingly son.
viii) On 11th night- A deformed daughter.
ix) On 12th night- A prosperous son.
x) On 13th night- A sinfully inclined girl.
xi) On 14th night- A balanced and righteous minded son.

level of the human biological cycle indicating a very weak Sun. Since
the Sun is the final determinant of the success/ failure of the
pregnancy, such a position shows miscarriage.)

1st Conception takes place ;
The following prediction is valid only for the first menstruation of a
woman and in a very rare cases it can operate in subsequent period
in life, since this is mainly in respect of first menses of a
woman._Mars and Moon are the cause for bringing about monthly
course in women. When in the case of women, if transiting Moon
occupies Anupachaya houses (1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th and
12th) from her ascendant natal Moon and is transiting moon is
aspected by Mars in transit (moon in 4,7 or 8th from mars), menses
starts and she becomes capable of conceiving, otherwise the
menses are considered fruitless.
if a women cohabit with a man when the Moon transits his Upachaya
houses (i.e. 3rd, 6th, 10th and 11th) from his ascendant natal Moon
and is aspected by transiting Jupiter (or other male planet), the man
will be her husband and it will bring about pregnancy. if the transiting
moon is aspected by Mars the man will be a shrewd, clever person;
if aspected by Sun, the man will be working with administration /
government and if aspected by Saturn, she would cohabit with
unreliable servant. If all the malefics Sun, Mars and Saturn aspect
the Moon the woman would become a prostitute, unite with anybody.

_If the 7th sign from the Adhana Lagna is Aries, then the union
of the couple resemble to that of goat. If the 7th sign is Vrishabha, it
may be of the bull. If the setting sign is a chadhushpad sign, then the
union will be as same as the chadhushpad concerned. If it is a
human sign, such as Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius 1st half or Aquarius,
the union may be resemblance to human beings. (Saravali chapter
8, verse 8).
Conception takes place ;
_Benefics in 7th house at conception show normal growth of the
foetus.
_Moon conjoining or aspecting the fifth house from Adhana lagna
promotes conception and the pregnancy is successful.
_if moon is is lagna during conception, or if moon & sun are
conjunct, pregnancy is protected (better if moon is waxing then).
_Conception occurs if the Sun transit any sign but is in a navamsa
occupied by Ketu (conjunct ketu in D9).

_When the Sun and Venus are strong (for father) and pass through
their signs or Amsas (in D1 or D9) identical with the 3rd, 6th, 10th or

and Mars are strong and transit through their signs or Amsas (in D1
or D9) identical with the Upachayas;
_If Sun & Venus or Moon and Mars are in their own navamsha and

natal Moon of a man or a woman, or if Jupiter is located in the 1st,

_Conception will work if at the time of intercourse the Sun and Venus
are in their own Navamsha and in Upachaya from the ascendant or
the Moon sign (whichever is strong).

The nature of the sign in the 7th house at the time of cohabitation
indicate the nature of the man. If the 7th house is occupied or
aspected by malefics, the cohabitation will be in quarrel some mood.

the time o f cohabitation it will be with pleasure and jokes etc. and if,
both malefic and benefic planets associate or aspect the 7th house,
the cohabitation will be with quarrel as well as with pleasure.

_according to western doctor and Babylonian astrology males are
conceived when moon is in male signs, females are conceived when
moon is in female signs.
_If Mercury and Venus are in even signs; a female child is expected

of a male; but, if the Sun and the Moon are in their mūlatrikona, they
produce a female foetus. If these planets are in malefic, apacaya, or
their enemies’ signs, while the other planets are in benefit signs,
then the semen is destroyed; but if Jupiter is in the ascendant,
impregnation takes place.

Sex of Child from conception; the sex should be determined

with due regards to the strength of the male or female planets
involved.

Mars occupy even signs the birth will be of a female. Even Saturn
located in odd houses of the horoscope for conception, except the
first, leads to a male birth.
_If the Navamsha sign of conception falls in a masculine sign or is
occupied by a male planet, male child shall be predicted. If the
above are feminine, a female child should be predicted.
_If in the ascendant, the Sun, Moon and Jupiter are powerful and in
odd signs and have their Navamsha in odd signs, a male child is
expected. If the above are feminine, predict a female child.
_If the ascendant, Moon and Mercury are in odd signs and their
Navamsha are in even signs with aspect of Saturn and Venus, birth
of an eunuch is indicated (the conceived children will not have
descendants_or be impotent).

Man, Venus, and the Moon are in vargas of the Moon, and the Moon
is weak, they cause the birth of a female.

navamsha, strong, in conjunction with the Moon, and aspected by a

of the ascendant or in navamsas of the ascendant and the sign in
which the Moon is or if they are aspected by them, then they
produce neuters.
27. If they are in masculine places, they give birth to a neuter with a
male form; if in feminine places, to one whose behavior and actions
are a woman’s and who is like a female.
28. If a neuter planet is in conjunction with the Moon or the
ascendant or is in a navamsha aspected by neuter planets, know
that (the native) is neuter and has the form of a neuter. (These
configurations are effective) at conception, during pregnancy, or at
birth.
29. If a navamsha of Mercury in a two-natured sign is strong and in a
cardine and if a navansa of a two-natured sign is in the ascendant or
the sign in which the Moon is, they say that twins are conceived.
30. If a strong planet in the ascendant aspects a two-natured sign or
the navamsha of a two-natured sign, and if Mercury is in a varga of
the Moon, it inevitably causes the birth of twins.
31. If Mercury is in the ascendant in the navamsha of a two-natured
sign and is not aspected, it produces twins; even with respect to the
rules for determining whether the native is male or female, if
navamsas of two- natured signs are involved, the womb is said to
contain twins.
32. If Jupiter is in a navamsha of Mercury in a two-natured sign or is
strong and in conjunction with Mercury or is aspected by Mercury
which is in its own navamsha then twins are born.
34. If the configuration at birth is similar to that at conception and
which is in its own navamsha then twins are born.

35. The Sun is father by day, Saturn at night; the authorities say that

When the Moon and ascendant at conception indicates opposite
gender– the sex of the subject is determined by the quadrant held by
the moon. The sex influences of the quadrants of the epochal figure

Navamamsha in the ascendant. If the sign and the Navamamsha in
the ascendant are movable, the birth is in the way; i f it is fixed
ascendant with fixed or own Navamamsha, the birth is in the house
itself and if it is duel sign with duel Navamamsha, the birth is near or
around the house. //14// Commentary :-As between the sign and the
Navamamsha in the ascendant, the result should be declared on the
basis of the stronger between the two, and if Navamamsha in the
ascendant is weak, the decision should be declared on the basis of
