Martin says...

This lick uses a combination of two sequences. The first one is based on diatonic triads on
the top two strings moving up horizontally via slides. Try to go up and down the entire neck
with this principle, using only the notes of G dorian. Once you’ve done the work, this kind of
sequence will be a useful addition to your improvisational vocabulary. You might just use a
few notes from it to connect idea A with idea B.

The descending part was played entirely from muscle memory. I probably wouldn’t be able
to recreate it note for note slowly. It’s just one of those things that you developed almost like
a habit. Just go for it and hopefully it’ll come out clean! ;)
