THE CORRELATION BETWEEN LOSS OF A SPOUSE PHASE (DEATH)

AND LEVEL OF DEPRESSION ON ELDERLY WOMEN IN
NUSAHERANG VILLAGE KUNINGAN REGENCY 2018

Human life in the world often involves various kinds of loss. The loss
phase indicated by a person includes denial, anger, bargaining, depression and
acceptance. The objective of this research is to find out the Correlation between
Loss of a Spouse Phase (Death) and Level of Depression on Elderly Women in
Nusaherang Village Kuningan Regency 2018
The research method used was analytical survey with Cross Sectional
research design. There were 60 respondents involved in the research with
Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling. The data collection was conducted by
using primary data and was analyzed univariately and bivariately by using chi
square with significant standard (0.05).
The research findings included a Significant Correlation between Loss of a
Spouse Phase (Denial) and Level of Depression on Elderly Women with p value at
0.026, a Significant Correlation between Loss of a Spouse Phase (Anger) and Level
of Depression on Elderly Women with p value at 0.001, a Significant Correlation
between Loss of a Spouse Phase (Bargaining) and Level of Depression on Elderly
Women with p value at 0.035, a Significant Correlation between Loss of a Spouse
Phase (Acceptance) and Level of Depression on Elderly Women with p value at
0.036.
Based on the research, it is shown that there was no level of depression on
most elderly women in Nusaherang Village Kuningan Regency. By conducting the
research, the writer hopes that all elderly women are able to understand the loss of a
spouse phase and to increase the knowledge of level of depression.
