Significance of study

The findings of this study can be a frame work for understanding the different aspects of

religious orientation and their relationship towards suicidality . In the process of literature

review, there are only few sources that related to the religious orientation and suicidality

especially in Malaysia context and where most of the existing published studies were established

in Western countries and only few studies were conducted in Asian countries especially

Malaysia. Furthermore, most of the researches were done by conducting on a single factor that

influenced to the sucidality. So, this study will be more focusing on the variables such as

intrinsic religious and extrinsic religious towards suicidality. Besides, the research on religious

orientation relating to suicidality is also very few have been done before in Malaysia. Thus, this

study would like to magnify the relevant research area and encourage the future researcher to

widen various dimension of this study in Malaysia.

Besides, this research also being one of the best platform to create and enhance awareness

towards religious orientation and suicidality among UTAR undergraduate student because the

findings of the study can be utilized as the information in planning awareness campaign by

bringing exposure towards importance of religious to preventing suicidality. In addition, this

research is also can create a better understanding among public which will enable individual to

decline the misconception and misunderstanding toward this issue. To sum up, this research is

important to discover the significant relationship between the variables of intrinsic and extrinsic

religious towards suicidatily within Malaysia‟s context.
