‘The Guidelines are not specific to any project or company; the examples contained in the previous Guide-
lines were transferred to the Application Commentaries. The Appendix to the Guidelines contains a compi-
lation of the project-related “Establishments between the Parties to the Project”. The Guidelines are the
basis for contract negotiations.

‘The following contains explanatory notes on the revised 1988 edition of the appli
jon commentaries.
1. KKSRules
1.1 KKS Guidelines
‘The Guideline contains an Appendix "Establishments between the Parties to the Project”. itis a check
list of the discretionary items in the Guideline to be defined between purchaser and contractor dur-
ing contract negotiations for KKS-based projects.
(IMPORTANT: Siemens Standard Rules take precedence, see Section 3.1.)
1.2 KKS Keys
1.2.1 Function Key
1.2.2. Equipment Unit Key
1.2.3. Component Key
‘These keys are the basis for Siemens keys identifying nuclear and conventional power plants.
For further information please see Section 3.2.
1.3. Equipment Unit and Component Code Reference List
‘The purpose is to compile an index list for uniform use of the classifying Equipment Unit and Compo-
nent Codes.
2. KKS Application Commentaries
2.1 Part General KKS Application Commentaries
Part A includes a comparison between DIN 40719, Part 2, June 1978 and KKS, 3rd edition,
2.2 PartB1 Engineering Discipline-Specific Application Commentaries in Mechanical Engineering
2.3 PartB2 Engines
19 Discipline-Specific Application Commentaries in Civil Engineering
24 Part B3 Engineering Discipline-Specific Application Commentaries in Electrical and I&C Engineering
25 Part B4 Engineering Discipline-Specific Application Commentaries in Process Systems and in 1&C Sys-
tems:
3. Specification of Discretionary Items in the VGB KKS Rules
3.1. Discretionary Items in the KKS Guidelines
These discretionary items are compiled in the Appendix “Establishments between the Parties to the
Project". The Guidelines allow restriction of these items by means of Standard Rules. Such Siemens
Rules exist for certain items:
-Standard numbering conventions in accordance with KKS which relate to existing planning and
processing procedures
- Standard coding conventions in the identification codes for automatic EDP
= Standard documents with KKS numbering conventions
In the case of project-specific establishments, Siemens Standard Rules take precedence.
3.2 Discretionary ttems in the Function Key
With its modular structure, the function key is suitable for all power plant types. Non-project-related
function keys are available for the various types of power plants and they can be adapted to a par-
ticular project.
