CONNECTION W/OUT A DONGLE

Solution

Every step required to use your CoolSat Receiver with this IKS provider is explained in
detail. The entire setup process is quite simple and should take less then 1 hour from start to
finish. If you wish to begin viewing TV in the shortest possible time it is imperative that
you carefully follow the instructions in this guide. Do not deviate nor skip any of the steps.

IMPORTANT ! READ BEFORE

PRECEEDING FURTHER TO PREVENT
POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO YOUR CS,
SWITCHES OR LNB's ALWAYS TURN
YOUR RECEIVER OFF USING THE REAR
SWITCH WHEN ATTACHING OR REMOVING
CABLES. PREFERABLY IT SHOULD BE UNPLUGED WHEN CONNECTING
OR REMOVING ANY CABLE TO OR FROM IT. REQUIRED 1. A
Computer with an Internet Connection 2. DB9 RS232 STRAIGHT THROUGH
SERIAL CABLE or if your computer does not have a DB9 RS232 COM port you can use a
USB to SERIAL ADAPTER along with your DB9 RS232 straight through SERIAL
CABLE. A USB to SERIAL DRIVER for your OS must also be installed on your PC. 3.
The rq-sssp-client software and the included rq coolsat firmware (bin files) for your
receiver which you can download from here: RQ SOFTWARE & FIRMWARE FOR
COOLSAT 4K, 5K and 6k rev 04/27/12 4. Coolsat Pro Loader v2.4- Use the following
link to download the CoolSat Loader: COOLSAT LOADER V2.4 5. A Coolsat
channel list (*.ndf file - optional) or MANUAL REPAIR OF THE CaID
MISMATCH There is currently a CaID MISMATCH problem with the Coolsat CS
5000 and CS 6000 receivers and DN. There are two ways to resolve this mismatch
problem with the Coolsat Receivers. You can download a Coolsat CHANNEL
LISTand load it into your CS receiver as explained in Step 8 of this guide or you
can MANUALLY REPAIR THE CaID MISMATCH problem using the following
procedure. 1. After you have followed all the STEPS in this guide with
the exception of (Step 8 - Loading a Channel List) and have reached (STEP 9 -
Watching TV) Turn your Coolsat Receiver ON and set it to a known nfps channel e.g.
200 - Start your RQ software (rq-sssp-client.exe) and your TV will now show the
channel you selected SCRAMBLED. 2. To UNSCRAMBLE the channel follow this
procedure: a. On your Coolsat Remote PRESS 8282 and then the BLUE button and a
Window will open on your TV Screen showing two CaID options. Option 1 is
Nagravision (1840) Option 2 is Nagravision (1816) b. Select Option 2 Nagravision
(1816) and hit OK. Within a few seconds the channel you have selected will come
in UNSCRAMBLED. c. After selecting Option 2 (1816) another window will open on
your TV stating "your settings have changed do you want to save" Select "YES" and then
hit EXIT to close the window and to view your channel. 3. EVERY TIME YOU
CHANGE TO A CHANNEL YOU HAVE NOT PREVIOUSLY USED YOU WILL
HAVE TO FOLLOW THE ABOVE PROCEDURE TO UNSCRAMBLE YOUR
CHANNEL, HOWEVER YOU ONLY HAVE TO DO THIS ONCE FOR EACH
CHANNEL YOU SELECT AS THE CORRECT CaID INFORMATION IS THEN
SAVED BY THE COOLSAT RECEIVER. 4. THE ADVANTAGE TO USING THIS
MANUAL METHOD TO CORRECT THE CaID MISMATCH IS THAT THE
CHANNEL LISTS LINKED IN THIS GUIDE AND ANY ADDITIONAL LISTS
THAT MAY BE POSTED IN THE COOLSAT FILES SECTION HAVE BEEN
CREATED BY MEMBERS WHO ARE POSTING THESE FILES TO SHARE
WITH OTHER MEMBERS. THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THESE LISTS
CONTAIN ALL THE NFPS CHANNELS AVAILABLE ON THE VARIOUS
SATELLITES. IN FACT MOST DO HAVE SOME CHANNELS MISSING AND
THOSE CHANNELS MAY OR MAY NOT BE OF INTEREST TO YOU
INDIVIDUALLY. THE MANUAL REPAIR METHOD FOR THE CaID
MISMATCH WILL ALLOW YOU TO VIEW ALL OF THE AVAILABLE NFPS
CHANNELS, ASSUMING THAT YOUR DISH(s) ARE PROPERLY POINTED AND
YOU HAVE A GOOD QUALITY SIGNAL FOR EACH OF THE SATELLITES
YOU ARE USING, YOUR ANTENNA SETUP IS CORRECT AND YOU HAVE
PROPERLY SCANNED IN AND SAVED THE CHANNELS FROM EACH
SATELLITE. THE DISADVANTAGE TO THE MANUAL METHOD IS THAT
WHEN SELECTING CHANNELS TO WATCH FOR THE FIRST TIME IT WILL
REQUIRE A FEW EXTRA SECONDS UNTIL THE STATION COMES IN
UNSCRAMBLED.. 5. CHANNEL LISTS ARE AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD
FROM THE COOLSAT FILES SECTION OF THE FORUM. THERE ARE NUMEROUS
FILES AVAILABLE. I SUGGEST THAT YOU LOOK FOR THE LATEST FILE
AVAILABLE THAT HAS THE CAID REPAIR FOR THE SATELLITES YOU PLAN
ON USING. NOTE:These channel lists have been created and are provided by other
members. No claims are made as to how complete these lists are. I RECOMMEND
THAT BEFORE DOWNLOADING ONE OF THE CHANNEL LISTS LINKED
BELOW THAT YOU CHECKOUT THE COOLSAT FORUM TO SEE IF THERE
HAVE BEEN ANY POSTS POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE IN REGARDS TO THE

LIST YOU ARE INTERESTED IN. STEP by STEP

INSTRUCTIONS STEP 1. UNZIP THE RQ SOFTWARE &
CS CHANNEL LIST A. Unzip RQ software you will now have: 1. rq-sssp-
client.conf 2. rq-sssp-client.exe 3. COOLSAT FIRMWARE/BIN FILES Included in 3.
above are three files one for each of the Coolsat receivers the 4k,5k and the 6000. STEP
7 provides STEP by STEP Instructions on updating your Coolsat with the correct included
Coolsat firmware. B. If you have downloaded a Coolsat Channel list - unzip it If you
have downloaded a Coolsat Channel list you will need to first unzip the archive and you
should then have a file with an .ndf extension. STEP 8 provides detailed instructions on
loading a channel list into your Coolsat STEP 2. VERIFY YOUR FILE
EXTENSIONS ARE VISIBLE In order to edit and properly save your rq-sssp-
client.conf it is important that you are able to view file extensions on your
computer. Open up Windows Explorer click on Tools > Folder Options > View If the
box which says "Hide extensions for known file types" is CHECKED then click on it
to UNCHECK It and then click onapply and then where it says Folder views click

on Like current folder. STEP 3. VERIFY COM PORT # and

SETTINGS A. VERIFY COM PORT # To check your COM PORT go
to: CONTROL PANEL > SYSTEM > DEVICE MANAGER > [+] PORTS click
on [+] you will see COM (port#) If you are using a USB to SERIAL ADAPTER you
will see "(usually name of chipset in adapter) USB-to-Serial Com Port (COM#)" - If
the port# shown is other than the number "1" it will have to be edited into therq-sssp-
client.conf file. If your COM port is NOT in device manager and your PC has a DB9
RS232 connector then you must REBOOT your computer, open up your BIOS and
ENABLE your com port. If using a USB to SERIAL ADAPTER and do NOT see
"Name of Chipset - USB-to-Serial Com Port (COM#)" the driver for your adapter
has not been properly installed on your PC and must be installed or reinstalled or it
will not work. B. VERIFY PORT SETTINGS RIGHT clickCOM (port#) >
properties > port settings and they should be 115200 8 none 1 none if not use the drop

down menu and change them to those values. STEP 4. EDIT THE
RQ-SSSP-CLIENT.CONF FILE The following info must be edited into your
rq-sssp-client.conf file. 1. COM PORT # if it is other than "1" 2. Your 14 digit
ACCESS CODE. 3. The SERVER (62.212.88.227 for 1.nfps.ws) or (95.211.106.208 for
2.nfps.ws) which was included in the email with your access code. 4. PORT # for the
Server included in the email with your access code. Editing these items, the COM
PORT, YOUR ACCESS CODE, SERVER and the PORT ADDRESS into your rq-sssp-
client.conf file are explained in detail below. You should NOT make any other changes to
the rq-sssp-client.conf file at this time. Open NOTEPAD and MAXIMIZE the
WINDOW . Go to: MENU > FILE > OPEN and you get the open dialogue box. In
the "Files of type" drop down menu select All Files (See Figure A) or you will not see
the rq-sssp-client.conf file as notepad defaults to show only files with the .txt
extension. Figure A
In NOTEPAD with your WINDOW MAXIMIZED EDIT THE FOLLOWING: A.
YOUR COM PORT If Device Manager verified your PC COM PORT AS COM "1"
you may skip this step. If you com port number was other than "1" scroll down to the
line that says: serial_port=COM1 and change the "1" to # shown in device
manager. NOTE: When editing the card_server_url_1=newcamd: line (the last line of
the rq-sssp-client.conf file) be careful to NOT remove any of the special
characters that exist between the various fields such as _ = . : @ / if you do so or
add in a single space anywhere in this line IT WILL NOT WORK. B. Enter your
NFPS ACCESS CODE. Enter your ACCESS CODE into the card_server_url_1 line
which is the last line of this file. Replace twice (example
below) YOURACCESSCODE with your 14 digit access code. Make sure you do not
inadvertantly remove the : that seperate the two access codes. C. ENTER THE
CORRECT SERVER IP# Replace where it says SERVER with: 62.212.88.227 (if your
email told you to use the 1.nfps.ws server)95.211.106.208 (if your email told you to use
the 2.nfps.ws server) D. ENTER YOUR PORT # Edit the port number by replacing
the ##### with one of the 5 digit port #'s that you received with your access
code. NOTE: The port numbers and servers you were initially assigned are subject to
change. Should your service be interupted the first step you should do is check the
announcement forum at this site to see if there are new port or server assignments. If this
occurs simply re-edit your conference file with the latest server/port info and save as
instructed below. E. VERIFY EOF (INVISIBLE END OF FILE
CHARACTER) IMPORTANT !! Before you SAVE this file as instructed below, verify
the EOF by placing your cursor at the end of the card_server_url line immediately
after the 4 now hit the right arrow key on your keyboard and the cursor should drop
to next line - if it does not, then with the cursor after the 4 hit the return key once and
the cursor will now drop to the next line causing an eof to be entered. The .conf file
will not work if this is not included. F. VERIFY EDIT The last line of your .conf file
should now look like the example below, except it should now have your actual 14
digit access code inserted twice with a : between them and the server
IP# you were instructed to use along with one of the port numbers you were
assigned to replace the #####. The card_server_url line file has NO
SPACES between fields and when you open it in NOTEPAD (window
maximized) it should be on ONE LINE. If it appear on two lines in these instructions it
is due to width limitations on forum posts. EXAMPLE of card_server_url
line:card_server_url_1=newcamd://YOURACCESSCODE:YOURACCESS

CODE@SERVER:#####/6103403445406970987123412134 STEP
5. SAVING and PLACEMENT OF FILES Once you have edited this file
you need to SAVE it as a .conf file. It is IMPORTANT that you follow the next
instructions EXACTLY as written. In NOTEPAD go to MENU > File > Save AS and
the Save as dialogue box will appear. (See Figure B)

Figure B A. Create New

Folder for the RQ software The Save as Dialogue box has 4 drop down menu
boxes. The first is at the top and it says "Save in". Use that dropdown menu of "Save in"
to select your "C" drive or you may use any partition you wish. Then you should create
a NEW FOLDER by clicking on the "create new folder" icon (See Figure B). After
clicking on the new folder icon you will then see a folder appear with the words new folder.
I named my folder CS but you can call it anything you wish. After you type in the name of
the folder hit the enter key twice. Once saves the name and the second opens the folder.
You should now see the name of your new folder in the "Save in" box at the top. B. Save
the edited rq-sssp-client.conf file The next 3 drop down menu boxes are at the bottom
of the Save as dialogue box. These 3 boxes should read EXACTLY as shown in Figure
B and written below to properly save this file with the correct name and format
(configuration file - *.conf) File name: rq-sssp-client.conf Save as type: All
Files Encoding: ANSI Click on SAVE and you can now exit out of NOTEPAD. C.
File Placement - Placing both files in the same folder Find the file rq-sssp-
client.exe which was included in the zip file you downloaded and copy this file to the new
folder that you just saved your edited re-sssp-client.conf file in. Both the rq-sssp-
client.conf file and the rq-sssp-client.exe file MUST BE IN THE SAME FOLDER ON

YOUR PC STEP 6. SIMPLIFY STARTING THE PROTOCOL Each

time you shut down your PC you will have to restart the file rq-sssp-client.exe - To simplify
this task go to the NEW FOLDER where the file rq-sssp-client.exe is and right click on
that file and select create a shortcut. After the shortcut shows up in the folder drag and
drop it onto your quick launch bar. Now you can easily start the protocol with a single
click of your mouse. NEXT: INSTALLING THE NEW FIRMWARE AND A
CHANNEL LIST INTO YOUR COOLSAT AND SETTING IT UP FOR

NFPS. STEP 7. UPDATE WITH THE RQ FIRMWARE. First do

a factory reset of your Coolsat to return it to the factory default settings (not to be
