Universal Design for Learning (UDL): By showing my students a video about Martin Luther King Jr, the
students who may have disabilities or is an ELL student will be able to comprehend the information through
hearing the narration, reading the subtitles, or just looking at the images to help. I let my students choose
which historical figure they would research and whether or not they wanted to work together or alone.

Lesson idea implementation: I will begin the lesson by asking my students to tell me everything they know
about Martin Luther King Jr. I will have an anchor chart at the front of the room. As my students answer, I will
write all of the information down. After, I will show my students the movie that I created where they can
learn and see more information about Martin Luther King Jr. Then, I will give my students a list of historical
figures from the standards and have them choose one that they would like to learn more about. I will also
allow my students to choose if they want to work in partners, small group, or individual. After my students
decide, they will begin researching using a resource of their choice. They must take notes and then create a
PowerPoint presentation about their figure. I will tell my students to add narration to their presentation. The
students will then share with the class when they finish.
Importance of technology: Technology is so beneficial to students with disabilities because of all of the
different softwares and medium of which the information is shared. It also helps bring the material to life for
students who may be bored and cannot focus when just being lectured to.
Inspiration (optional): We used part of a video from Discovery Education, pictures from Google search, music
from iMovie.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: When allowing students to use the Internet and different softwares, it is
important that students do not give out personal information like their names, school location, or home
address. The students are asked to use a pseudonym if needed. At the beginning of the year, I will go over
these things with my students and stress the importance of it. Also, at the beginning of the year, I will make
sure to get parental permission from all students and keep a record of those whose parents deny permission.
Reflective Practice: Instead of just having my students create a PowerPoint presentation with narration, I
could have had them create their own iMovie. I could have given my students a tutorial and walked them
through how to make a video. Then, the students could have published their movies online, moving this
lesson to a LoTi level 5.
