Swimming pools use chlorination as a sanitation method to maintain the

swimming pool's water quantity. According to PERMENKES RI No. 32 of 2017
chlorine levels allowed in swimming pool water is (1-1.5) mg/L. As a disinfectant,
the remaining chlorine in the provision of water is deliberately maintained. The
purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between chlorine levels
and eye irritation complaints in Tirta Kartika swimming pool users.
This type of research was analytical observational with cross sectional
design where the method of data collection was done at the same time to
determine the relationship between chlorine levels and eye irritation complaints.
The sampling was using accidental sampling technique. The populations in this
study were all visitors of Tirta Kartika swimming pool for three months with an
average value of 327 people while the sample was 76 people. Analysis of the data
was presented in the form of univariate tables and bivariate tables using the chi-
square test.
The results of this study indicated that the average value of pool water
chlorine levels was 2.30 mg / L, then the number of swimmers who experience eye
irritation complaints as many as 78.9% or 60 people from 78 respondents and
significant values of sig = 0.011 or <sig a 0 Therefore, there was a relationship
between chlorine levels and eye irritation complaints in Tirta Kartika swimming
pool users.
It is suggested to provide training on swimming pool water management to
pool staff, preferably in monitoring chlorine levels in swimming pool water. The
Tirta Kartika swimming pool reconsidered the proper disinfection method.
