S12-ii Ra 122 122.1 SECTION 12 - STRUCTURAL STEELWORK DESCRIPTION ‘The work shall consist of supply of materials, workmanship, handling and erection for construction of steel structures all in accordance with the lines and dimensions shown on the Drawings. in addition, the protection of steelwork agaiast corrosion shall be as specified herein. MATERIALS STRUCTURAL STEELS Unless otherwise specified on the Drawing structural steels shall comply with BS 4360 and shall be one of the grades specified. ‘The grade of steel to meet the notch toughness requirement shall be as specified on the Drawings. Steel shall be marked in accordance with BS 4360, Where steel of differing grades are used in the same work, they shall, with the exception of grade 434, have additional markings as specified on the Drawing, ‘The Contractor shall supply the S.O. with a manufacturer's certificate in accordance with the requirement of BS 4360. Hot rolled sections shall comply with the requirements of BS 4 or BS 4848 as appropriate. 12.2.2. STEEL FOR SHEAR CONNECTOR, Steel for headed stud type shear connectors shall have a minimum yield stress of 385 'Nisq.mm. Unless otherwise specified on the Drawing steel for other types of shear connectors shall comply with the requirement of BS 3692, BS 4395 Part 1 and BS 4929 Part | (equivalent ISO 4759). 12.23 BOLTS NUTS AND WASHERS 12.2.3.1 Black Bolts Black Bolts and nuts shall comply with BS 4360. 12.2.3.2 High Strength Friction Grip Bolts High strength friction grip bolts and nuts shall comply with BS 4395, 12.23.3 Countersunk Bolts Countersunk Bolts and nuts shall comply with BS 4933, Si2-1
