Should mobile phones be banned in school?

In the development of the science and technology, the technology of the mobile
phones are gradually improving. Mobile phones are indispensable in our daily life
especially for students, which bring a lot of conveniences and benefits in their studies.
However, in Asian Country, mobile phones are still be banned in school. In my
opinions, mobile phones are not necessary to be banned as there are some advantages
to bring mobile phones to school.

Firstly, students can have a good communications with their parents. It is important
when there is any emergency happen during school time. It is also convenience to
make a call with their children when parents could not fetch their children on time.
This can avoid students waiting outside alone and any cases of kidnapping might
happen. We know that some schools provide public phones for students to make calls.
But the malfunctions of these public phones bring troubles and inconveniences to
students.

Secondly, mobile phones can replace other teaching equipment such as laptop,
computer or LCD projector. Teachers can send power point slides or sharing ideas to
students through Bluetooth. There are applications too in mobile phones such as notes,
dictionary, internet might assist students in their study.

It is argued that mobile phones in schools could cause cyber-bullying. To be fair,

there is a certain amount of validity to this claim as cyber-bullying cases can be seen
on newspaper recently. However, the school authorities can restrain cyber-bullying
happen if severe punishments like suspended from schools or immediate police
intervention to those who are found of cyber-bullying offence.

In conclusion, mobile phones should not be banned in schools because it can bring
good communications and replace teaching equipment in schools.
