Indian Calendar ( Saka Samvat)


The Calendar was born from the astronomical philosophies
developed in the late BC time.
In 1957 the calendar was introduce by the Calendar Reform
Committee.
They did a meeting, to make a standard lunisolar, so that they
could synchronize leap years with those observed by the Western
calendar.
The official civil Calendar in India is the Saka Samvat, this
calendar is a LUNISOLAR calendar, it means that is made up of
both solar and lunisolar calendars, and also centers on astronomy
and religion.
With the years the calendar has been changed (edited)
There are different variations on the Indian Calendar, but itch one
have some characteristics that identify them.
Something that makes them equal is that have the same names
for the 12 months of the year:
Chaitra Vaisakha Jyaistha Asadha Sravana Bhadrapada Asvina
Kartika Agrahayana Pausa Magha and Phalguna
The names of the 12 months are the translations of the
corresponding Zodiac sings
This calendar is used for the calculation days of religious
significance in the Hindu Religion.
A day is measured as the period between one sunrise and the next.
A month is the period from one moon cycle to the next. A year is
measured from the beginning of a season until its return.
