Marriage Encounter Weekend
(ME No. 30, Cabuyao & Calamba)
Jesus said, “Come follow me” (Luke 9:59)
Heeding God’s call to spend a special weekend in His
presence, 12 couples (three from Calamba, nine from
Cabuyao) attended the Marriage Encounter Weekend No.
30 last June 28-30, 2019 at the Betania Retreat House in
Pansol, Calamba, Laguna.
The events that unraveled gave a new beat in the hearts
of the participants. They found a weekend full of time to
spend with loved ones, a chance for better understanding
and commitment, a time to ask or grant forgiveness and
a renewal of marital vows experienced by Freddie & Gina
Magallanes, Paulo & Nica Punongbayan, Rodel & Joy
Garcia, Dodong & Ana Paraiso, Jheff & Nel Jose, Bumbay
& Baby Entredicho, Mike & Beth Cestina, Romie & Noemy
Diamante, Jun-jun & Joy Bon, Isidro & Emma Baynado,
Jun & Len Coligado, and Rusty & Weng Jose.
They came to recognize a new glitter and purpose in life,
as they saw God’s love binding their marriage with
greater strength. Given the goal of attaining a fruitful life
as husband and wife, the ME graduates began their
journey with Jesus together with their incoming

BLD San Pablo District through its Cluster Shepherd/
Solo Parents Ministry Couple Coordinators, Sonny and
Senen Escamos, joined with BLD Lucena District in their
first ever Solo Parent Encounter Weekend held last
June 29-30, 2019 at the MCST Convent in Tayabas City.
Thirty-four solo parents (23 from BLD Lucena and 11
from BLD San Pablo) responded to God’s call and
successfully finished the seminar.
The Pastoral Team was headed by the Spiritual Director
Fr. Gerry Juarez with the Solo Parents Ministry

assistant shepherds Gilbert & Connie Noble from
Cabuyao; while in Calamba their shepherds are Edwin &
Liza Banaybanay, and assistant shepherds William & Cecil
Ladub. The sponsoring class is ME 28 with shepherds Eric
and Grace Reyes (Cabuyao) and Orly and Juvy Basio
(Calamba). The Spiritual Director was Rev. Fr. Paul Ines
SDB, and the presenting couples were Ver & Minda

“Manalig at sumunod kayo sa akin”. Noong ika-30 ng
Hunyo 2019, nagtapos ang 12 mag-asawa sa ginanap na
Marriage Encounter #30 ng Calamba at Cabuyao. Sa
homiliya ni Fr. Paul Ines, na naayon sa Magandang Balita
tungkol sa pag-anyaya ni Hesus sa mga gustong maging
disipulo, tinawag nya ang mga mag-asawahan na
sumunod kay Kristo bilang disipulo at huwag hayaang
mawala ang presensya ng Espiritu Santo sa kanilang
pagmamahalan. Bilang tugon, nagbahagi din ang lahat
ng mga mag-asawa na tinawag ng Diyos. Iba-iba ang
kanilang mga karanasan sa buhay bilang mag-asawa.
Meron nagbahagi ng matinding karamdaman na

kanilang dinadala hanggang sa kasalukuyan, meron din
na-operahan sa ugat sa utak, mag-asawang
maghihiwalay na sana ngunit sa bandang huli ay
isinantabi ang galit para lamang sa pagkakabuo at
kabutihan ng pamilya. Masaya nag lahat dahil tagumpay
ang misyon ng Marriage encounter. Kahit sa maiksing
oras ay nasubukang ibalik nito ang komunikasyon ng
mag-asawa at ang pagiging bukas sa Panginoon at sa
pagsisilbi sa kanya at sa kapwa.
Pagninilay sa Lukas 9:51-62 at panalangin:
Iba-iba ang dahilan ng ating pagtugon sa Panginoon sa
kanyang paanyaya bilang disipulo at ang layuning
ipahayag ang magandang balita. Sinabi ng Panginoon
ang mga kapalit kung tayo ay nais mapabilang na taga-
sunod Nya. Una ay ang mga materyal na bagay. Kung
nais nating sumunod dahil nag-aasam tayo ng materyal
na bagay bilang kapalit, sinabi agad ni Hesus na sya man
ay walang matulugan at matuluyan kaya't ang
kahalagahan ng sakripisyo ang kanyang ipinapahiwatig.
Sinabi rin ng Panginoon na unahin mo na ang kaligtasan
at wag nang bumalik sa dati mong pamumuhay kasama
din ang iyong pamilya. At ang panghuli ay hindi

Message to BLD MANILA and
GLOBAL 34TH ANNIVERSARY
ABP ANGEL N. LAGDAMEO
The genesis of BLD Global Community is similar
to the beginning of Christ’s Apostolic Mission. In
the beginning he just called twelve; just before he
left he instructed them, “Go into the world and
preach the Gospel.” Now the Apostolic Mission
is in almost every corner of the world . . . . sixty
district communities.

BLD has received the same instruction from the

Bishops…now they are increasing “district by district” in
response to the apostolic prayer, “Go into the world . . . . . ”

I greet and congratulate the leadership of BLD which has developed into multitudes of
clusters. BLD has helped enliven the faith of many people as well as theirs.

Help and strengthen the formation of BEC (Basic Ecclesial Communities) in your
respective parish communities. Help develop “servant leadership” as well as “family
spirituality.” Cooperate in the projects of your respective parish priests, remembering to
pray and to greet them in their anniversaries.

Be faithful in your BLD prayer schedules: the community as well as the family that prays
together stays together.

34th BLD Global
Anniversary Message of
Bishop Rey G. Evangelista
I praise and thank God for the 34th Anniversary of
Bukas Loob sa Diyos (BLD) Covenant Community.
In my initial encounter and dialogue with Executive
Council of Servant Leaders (ECSL), I immediately
sense the zeal and commitment of the community
leaders to further the growth of the covenant
community according to the inspiration of the Holy
Spirit. I must admit that as a newly appointed
Assistant Community Spiritual Director, I plunged into the life and structure of BLD
without any experience of directing charismatic communities. But I am open to the
movements of the Holy Spirit and willing to share whatever I can as God’s instrument for
His beloved BLD Covenant Community. As St. Peter the Apostle said— “As each one has
received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” (1 Peter
4:10)

I believe that the BLD Global Community will continue to grow with the unwavering
commitment of its leaders and members inspired by the deep faith in God, firm hope, and
selfless love. The BLD Community Vision will always rekindle the kingdom values in each
one — “As a community of disciples inspired by the Holy Spirt to be living witnesses for
transformation, in Christ to bring about a world of justice, human development and true
peace.”

Challenges in maintaining unity and good relationship among leaders and members will
always be there; some members may not be as enthusiastic as before or consistent in
attendance as they used to be; and the task of evangelization to establish more districts in
the country and abroad will not be that easy especially with the issue of personal
priorities but God’s grace will always be available and poured on us because Christ is a
faithful God whose love is everlasting. He is our Strength and our Salvation. “If God is
with us who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31)

We are just God’s instruments in promoting His kingdom here on earth. God knows what
is best for BLD Covenant Community and for each one of us. Let us entrust to God all our
plans, commitment and our whole being.

“May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to think in harmony with one
another, in keeping with Christ Jesus, that with one accord you may with one voice glorify
the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 15:5-6)

As I pray for all of you, receive my best wishes and paternal blessing.

The SPE graduates are: Dulz Araguas and Marlyn
Casiñas from Bay, Virgie Revilla from Calauan, Marvie
Robles from Calamba and Win Bautista, Lida
Bumanlag, Precy Carrandang, Dolly Carpio, Beth Guico,
Pearl Isidro and Nitz Penales from Los Baños. The
graduates will comprise the Solo Parent Encounter
Class No. 6 of the BLD San Pablo District.
It was a very exciting and fun-filled weekend as Fr.
Gerry with his usual antics brought the participants

down to jeers and laughter. He did not allow the
participants to fall asleep by cracking his jokes all the
way in all his talks. However, he won the hearts of the
thirty four ladies with his teachings, advises, reflections
and homilies. He stressed that being solo parents does
not hinder anyone to love, praise and serve the Lord.
As the Spiritual Director of the SPE weekend, Fr. Gerry
also enkindled in the minds of the participants the
importance of being in the community especially the
Solo Parent Ministry. As advised by Fr. Gerry, being
solo parents, they should be sticking to each other as
sisters, friends and fellow believers, who can draw
strength and courage among themselves. He made it a
point that they can do this better by being like
branches attached knitly to the vine who is Jesus
himself.
Serving the Lord however is not that easy according to
him since there will be tests, struggles and challenges
that will come along the way but seeking the Lord first

Empowerment of Christ’s Disciples
Disciples of Christ are empowered when they
perform mission works.
Bago pinadala o inatasan ng Panginoong Hesus
ang 72 disipulo ay binigyan Niya sila ng
kapangyarihan.
To be a messenger of Peace - Inatasan silang
magdala ng kapayapaan. The Lord said, ”into
whatever house you enter, first say ‘Peace to this
household’. Ito ay pagpapatunay na ang
Panginoong Diyos ay Diyos ng kapayapaan.
Pinatunayan din ito sa John 16:33. “I have
overcome the world . . . that in me you may
have peace. We can rest safely in our salvation
and cling to these words from Our Lord and
Savior.
To Believe that God provides. ‘I am sending you
like lambs among wolves, carry no money bag,
no sack and no sandals. Pinagkalooban din sila ng
kapangyarihan na maging matatag, matapang
saan man sila makisalamuha sa bawat lugar na
kanilang pupuntahan at huwag mag-alala sa
kanilang mga pangangailangan dahil ang Diyos
ang magbibigay.
To Focus on their Mission Works and Mission
Fields. Stay in the same house, do not move
about from one house to another, cure the sick
in it and say to them “The kingdom of God is at
hand for you.” Ipinakita sa kanila ang isang
malawak na lugar (Mission Field) na handa nang
anihin para sa kaharian ng Diyos.
(Luke 10:2) He said “The harvest is
plentiful, but the laborers are few; pray
therefore to the Lord of the harvest to

send out laborers into his harvest”.
Madalas gamitin ni Jesus ang salitang harvest o
ani upang ipabatid ang pagdating at paghahari
ng Diyos sa mundo. Ang ani ay bunga ng isang
matiyagang paggawa at paglago, simula sa
paghahasik ng mga buto hanggang tumubo ito
at maging isang puno, palalaguin mo ito
hanggang gumulang at mamunga at sa
bandang huli ay ang pag-aani.
God’s word grows like a seed within us; (Ang
Salita ng Diyos na nasa atin ay katulad ng isang
tumutubong buto).
Sa katulad na paraan, ang Salita ng Diyos ay
itinanim sa puso ng mga kalalakihan at
kababaihan na nakarinig ng Kanyang Salita,
tinanggap ito ng may pagtitiwala at pagsunod,
at saka nila ibinahagi sa iba ang masaganang
bunga ng Salita ng Diyos sa kanilang buhay. Ang
ani na nasa isip ng Panginoong Jesus ay hindi
lamang para tipunin ang mga tao sa Israel kundi
lahat ng tao at mga bansa sa mundo. Katulad ng
sinasabi ni Juan Ebanghelista. “God so loved the
world that he gave His one and only Son, that
whoever believes in Him shall not perish but
have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
Maging isang manghahasik ng Salita ng Diyos
tungkol sa kapayapaan at ng awa.
Anong ibig sabihin ni Jesus noong sabihin sa
Kanyang mga disipulo na dapat ang “mga tupa
ay sa gitna ng mga lobo”? Ang hula ni Propeta
Isaias ay dadating ang oras na ang lobo at tupa
ay maging matiwasay sa isat-isa (Is 11:6 &
65:25).
Ito ay tumutukoy sa pangalawang pagdating ng
Panginoong Hesus kung saan ang lahat ay
magkaka-isa kay Jesus pagkatapos Niyang
ibagsak ang Kanyang mga kaaway at itatag ang
paghahari ng Diyos sa langit at sa lupa.
Samantala ay dapat ding asahan ng mga
disipulo ang kontra at pag-uusig mula sa mga

sumasalungat sa Ebanghelyo.
Dumating si Hesus upang ialay ang buhay para
sa atin bilang ating tupang handog, upang
bayaran ang ating mga kasalanan at ang
pagkakasala ng mundo. Tayo, bilang pagbabalik
ay dapat na nakahanda para ialay ang ating
buhay sa pasasalamat at mapagpakumbabang
paglilingkod para sa ating tagapag-ligtas, ang
Panginoong Hesukristo.
Ang tunay na pinagmumulan ng kagalakan
natin ay nagmula sa Diyos na nagliligtas sa
atin.
Bakit sinabi ni Jesus sa Kanyang mga disipulo na
huwag magsaya sa kanilang sariling tagumpay,
kahit na ito’y spiritual. Nilinaw ni Hesus na ang
totoong pinagmumulan ng ating kasiyahan ay sa
Diyos at tanging sa Diyos lamang. Anuman ang
mga pangyayari sa magagandang panahon at
masamang panahon sa tagumpay o pagkawala.
Ang Diyos ay laging nagbibigay ng katiyakan sa
Kanyang mga disipulo na Siya ay may
kapangyarihan laban sa kasamaan kabilang ang
kapangyarihan ni satanas at mga masasamang
espiritu na nagsasabwatan laban sa atin. Kaya si
Hesus ay bumaba dito sa mundo para ibagsak
ang kasamaan (John 12:31). At tayo rin bilang
mga disipulo ni Jesus ay binigyan ng
kapangyarihan para mapaglabanan ang mga
gawa ng kadiliman at kasamaan ( 1 John 2:13-
14).
Binigyan din tayo ng Diyos sa Kanyang mga
Salita na nagbibigay buhay na tayo ay may
masaganang buhay sa Kanya. Ibinigay ng Diyos
sa atin ang Kanyang mga salita at inaatasan
tayo na ipangalat ito ng may tapang at linaw sa
ating kapawa.
Ngayon, ang tanong para sa lahat, tayo ba ay
nagsasaya dahil sa mga sarili nating gawa?
Basta ang alam ko, lahat tayong mga
manggagawa ng Panginoon ay dapat magsaya
sapagka’t . . .
Ito ang pangako sa atin na ang mga pangalan
natin ay nakatala sa langit.
This is His Promise to us – rejoice because your
names are written in heaven. (Lk 10:20b)

  Ministry News, Updates 
Pastoral Cluster  Youth Ministry - 8 & 9 June - Fifty-five youths
graduated from the Youth Light in the Spirit Seminar (YLSS #17) held
at the University of the Philippines Open University. Fr. Ruzzel Habito
served as the Spiritual Director. Victory party of YLSS No. 17, was
held last 19 June. Regular Saturday afternoon Worship Service will
be held on 6 July 2019. The next activity is the Emergence.
Singles Ministry  Singles Encounter Weekend will be at TREES
on 30 Aug to 1 Sept with Fr. Ruzzel Habito as Spiritual Director. 
The Singles hold their Word Sharing Circle every 2nd & 4th Saturday
of the month. Singles outing was held last 15 June at Pansol. A once a
month prayer meeting/WSC is being planned to be held in Cabuyao.
 Healing and Counseling Ministry (HCM) Regular WSC every
Monday with 6-15 members joining at Rm 1 DSSTCJ. As part of the
WSC last 24 June, Dr. Vergel Eusebio rendered a book review and
gave a summary of the first three (3) chapters of the book
"Prescriptions for Healing" by Dr. Gills, a Christian ophthalmologic
surgeon. 
Emmaus Community Worship will be on 27 July, DSSTC Rm 1.
Please bring friends, workmates & family members to join the activities.
There will be sharing, healing and fellowship. Solo Parents
Encounter (with BLD Lucena, Tayabas, Quezon) - Eleven participants
were from BLD San Pablo. They will comprise the SPE # 6: Dulz

June 2019 at the MCST, Tayabas, Quezon. The BLD Lucena co-
sponsored the event and the BLD Manila Solo Parents Ministry served
as the Pastoral Team.
Management Cluster During the 26 June DLC meeting, the
Property Inventory Form was presented by Tess Salvo, Management
Diamante, Jhun-Jhun/Joy Bon. From Calamba - Isidro/Emma
Baynado, Jun/Len Coligado, and Rusty/Weng Jose. Incoming
shepherds of ME 30 are: Cabuyao, Denis/Tess Roa, assistants are
Bert/Connie Noble. Shepherds for Calamba, Edwin/Liza Banaybanay,
assistants William/Cecil Ladub. ME 31- Live Out (Putho-Tuntungin,
Los Baños) is scheduled on 10-11 August 2019. Let us offer prayers
of intercession for the sponsoring class, their preparations and for a
successful, fruitful marriage encounter weekend.
