Hayden Laird PHILOSOPHY OVERVIEW | believe education should begin with getting to know what students have; their previous experiences, knowledge, belie(s and ideas. Then taking these and providing them with educative experiences, that may challenge students: but develop them into critical thinkers with the ability o inquire. collaborate and lve sustainably ina world that is extensive inrace, culture, gender/sexual & socio-economic diversity. The students | teach will be part of the future global society. | will faciltate the change | wish to see in the world. TH CENTURY Goal 1 Students will be active inquirers, who critically think, develop knowledge and not passively receive it ‘As Dewey (cited in Webster & Ryan, 2014) explains, education should be viewed as a constructive agency of improving society, that realises children and youth represent the future of society. Goal 2 Develop students into learners who have an attitude to go on learning (Dewey, 1938), to care about issues and who are open and willing to have their understandings challenged and clarified. Who can also give careful considerations to the potential long-term consequences of their actions, take personal responsibilty for making judgements and acting upon these (Hope-Rowe, 2018). Goal 3 Teachers will facilitate learning as the construction of ideas, knowing that information is not passively absorbed through dictating ideas to students. Knowledge is constructed internally. ideas are built upon ideas through guidance in a learning community. Instead of focussing on amounts of knowledge, focus on processes and learning through educative experiences (Webster & Ryan, 2012). THE PEDAGOGICAL FRAMEWORKS USED TO ACHIEVE THESE GOALS lew Pedagogies for Deep Learning ictorian State Government [DET], 2018) My students will recieve Project-based/Inquity Learning on topics which are relevant to them in their current and future world, they will have @ voice and agency in their learning and experience blended learning. My classroom will be Leveraging Digital through embedding digital technologies into lessons to amplify and broaden learning. Learning partnerships will be formed: teachers. dnd te wider, even global community will all be involved where possible to create a Learning Envronment with climate and culture for interactive learning. High Impact Teaching Strategies (Wictorian State Government IDETI, 2017) Where project-based/inquiry leaming is not quite the right fit. | will rely on some strategies from HITS. These Include Structuring Lessons, Explicit Teaching, Worked Examples and Differentiated Teaching. These strategies callow plans to be in place for curriculum learning areas which are more teacher directed and will always have various student abilities to cater for, ensuring students are prepared with skills such as mathematics, literacy - reading, spelling and grammar in their writing and ‘providning opportunities for public speaking
