Bryan Morris

UNF Essay

Narrative of Bryan Morris

Hello University of North Florida. My name is Bryan Morris, an upcoming freshman. I’m

writing so the university can get to know me.

I attended public schools from Miami, to St. Augustine from kindergarten to sixth grade.

I started going to private schools starting at seventh grade. I first went to Christ Church Academy

for three years. I liked the smaller environment, yet there wasn’t much activates to take part in

the school. Later, I transferred to Providence School of Jacksonville and spent the rest of my

school years there. I’ve always been an A/B Honor student in my high school career and passed

my AP Exams.

My family is a mix of two cultures: Peruvians And Texans. My dad side of the family is

from Texas and lived in cities such as Lubbock, San Antonio or Anton. My mom’s side of the

family is Peruvian. She lived in Peru her entire childhood and moved to America in her college

years. Most of my mom’s family lives either in Peru, Miami, or California. I’ve been learning

Spanish in my high school years so I can communicate with my mom’s family to be able to

understand pieces of media in Spanish.

I have several hobbies that I enjoy. Learning Spanish and Italian, playing video games

(when I have the time), and performing musical theatre. I started having a passion for theatre

when I signed up for the Musical Theatre class at Providence and realized the importance of

multitasking theatre and your social life, and to practice singing, acting, and even dancing if the

show calls for it. I spent almost two years taking voice lessons from Professor James Hall so I
can polish my singing and extended my vocal range. So far, I’ve taken part in school plays and

musicals such as Hello Dolly, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, and Midsummer Night’s

Dream (where I played as Demetrius). I loved doing musical theatre and signed up in theatre

camps and programs such as FSCJ’s Camp Broadway (Legally Blonde Jr. and Shrek Jr.), St.

Augustine’s Musical Theatre Camp which is nicknamed Curtis Camp (Les Miserables and The

Hunchback of Notre Dame), and FSCJ’s SMTE program in which I’m currently rehearsing for

Newsies. I hoped to continue doing community theatre as a hobby.

As of my plan in UNF, I hope to find out what major to pursue, do a Spanish minor, and

to be content with the career I will study for.
