Step 1: Decide what your claim will be


Choose ONE of these two claims to make in your paper. This claim will be your thesis
statement.
 Option 1: Although social media has its benefits, overall it is harmful to teenagers
and to our world.
 Option 2: Although social media has its dangers, overall it is beneficial to
teenagers and to our world.

Step 2: Choose 4 sources to support your claim


In class, we will work on our paper outlines. In this outline, you will choose 4 sources to
support your claim. You must choose 2 classes we read together in class and 2 more
sources you found on your own online. These sources must be credible (as discussed
in class).

Step 3: Write your paper


 Name, ID number, and class period on the top of the first page
 1-inch margins
 12-point, Times New Roman font, black font
 Double (2.0) spacing
 3-4 full pages (must at least reach the bottom of page 3)
 No additional blank lines between paragraphs
 Upload paper as a PDF or Word document
 Review the research paper scoring guide for grading guidelines

Step 4: Submit your paper to Google Classroom by 5:00PM on May 17


 I will grade your paper and provide all feedback via Google Classroom
 No email or paper submission will be accepted
