Swedish Manufactured Aeronautical Products AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVENO: 1-126 AIRCRAFT TYPE: SAAB 2000 ‘SERIAL No:s ‘SAAB 2000 -004 through -099 AFFECTED: SUBJECT: Hydraulic Power-Expansion Chamber Attenuator - New end-piece for IHC A ECA BACKGROUND: There are reports of excessive leakage of the Expansion Chamber Attenuator (ECA) for the No. 2 system stand-by pump due to failed end- piece. This causes: - Atotal loss of pressure in the No. 2 system, preventing normal landing-gear operation - Aloss of nose wheel steering system - Aloss of flap operation and - Reduced redundancy for wheel brakes and flight controls. This modification introduces a more robust end-piece that is made from ‘steel in preference to aluminum and will minimize the risk for this type of failure in the future.
