Artifact #2: SAVE and Child Abuse Workshop certificates.

The second artifact, the SAVE and Child Abuse Workshop Certificates, share in my

views of the importance of having the duty to report as well as ensuring all students are treated

respectfully and lawfully. As an educator, if I suspect any kind of maltreatment I take my duty to

report very seriously and am not afraid to make the call to Child Protective Services or Family

and Children Services. A child’s safety and well-being is number one to me as an educator as

well as a parent. It is my belief that every student has the right to an education but also has a

right to feel safe while obtaining that education. No student should fear coming to school and it

is my job as an educator to help create a positive learning experience for all students.

INTASC Standard

Standard #9: Professional Learning and Ethical Practice

The teacher engages in ongoing professional learning and uses evidence to continually

evaluate his/her practice, particularly the effects of his/her choices and actions on others

(learners, families, other professionals, and the community), and adapts practice to meet the

needs of each learner.

NYS Code of Ethics Standard for Educators

Principle #5: Educators collaborate with parents and community building trust and respecting
confidentiality

Educators partner with parents and other members of the community to enhance school

programs and to promote student learning. They also recognize how cultural and linguistic

heritage, gender, family and community shape experience and learning. Educators respect the

private nature of the special knowledge they have about students and their families and use that

knowledge only in the students' best interests. They advocate for fair opportunity for all children.
DOE Claims & CEAP Standards:

DOE Claim #3: Medaille College graduates are caring educators.

CAEP Standard #4 Program Impact

The provider demonstrates the impact of its completers on P-12 student learning and

development, classroom instruction, and schools, and the satisfaction of its completers with the

relevance and effectiveness of their preparation.

CEC Standards

Standard #6: Professional Learning and Leadership

ILA International Literacy Association Professional Standards

Principle #3: Promoting meaningful and inclusive participation of individuals with

exceptionalities in their schools and communities

Candidates understand, select, and use valid, reliable, fair, and appropriate assessment

tools to screen, diagnose, and measure student literacy achievement; inform instruction and

evaluate interventions; participate in professional learning experiences; explain assessment

results and advocate for appropriate literacy practices to relevant stakeholders.

Ontario Teacher Ethical Standards

Ethical Standard of Trust

The ethical standard of Trust embodies fairness, openness and honesty. Members'

professional relationships with students, colleagues, parents, guardians and the public are based

on trust.
