Attachments

Attachments may be good or bad. Attachments may satisfy a person’s wants or sustain
one’s needs. Attachments may involve commitment or responsibility. These may lead us to a
great outcome or a dissatisfying result. Attachments are people’s possessions, worldly desires.
Attachments will always be present in people’s lives, it improves or deteriorates one’s life. Do
these attachments improve our spirituality? Do these attachments lead us to the light of the Lord?
Do these attachments draw us closer or strengthens our relationship with God?

The Lord wants us to let go of our attachments and follow Him, with this, we can enjoy
eternal life. Having these attachments tied to ourselves make our lives miserable and we can
never experience contentment or worse, we can never have the chance to know the Lord and to
embrace Him as our Lord and Savior. Our attachments blind us from the things that will make us
righteous. Worldly desires are instruments of the wicked to lure us to do evil things. We let go of
these attachments, we let go of living a miserable life, we let go of being blinded, we let go of
dissatisfaction and, we let go of being controlled by our own attachments, let go of letting it foresee
our future.

My attachments are my responsibilities, possessions, and desires. I can’t let go of my

responsibilities because it will be against the will of the Lord. For instance, I have to be a good
daughter to my parents, I have to serve them well and honor them. I can’t let go of this because
it is one of the commandments, and it is the Lord’s orders, I cannot let go of that. Secondly, my
possessions are my achievements and the stuff I acquired for myself, these are my wants that I
already possessed, and by this, I felt satisfied. I can let go of these to follow God, because I know
that God has something in store for me when I am going to sacrifice everything to follow Him.
Lastly, my desires. My desires are my wants, the things that I want to have. The need to feed my
satisfaction or the things which I find pleasurable. I can have my wants by asking them from my
parents, or treating myself as a prize from exerting effort in my tasks or studies. I realized that
having wants make me dissatisfied, I find myself looking for more after I have what I want. I should
forget my wants and follow God to experience contentment and true satisfaction. Through
knowing the Lord and embracing Him as my Lord and savior, I can live my life genuinely happy
and I will be contented with what I have. Following Him will guide my way to the paradise and I
know that God will be giving me everything I desire.
