DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING

1) Find the forces in all the members of the truss shown in the figure.

2) Find the forces in all the members of the truss shown in the figure.

3) Determine the value of force “W” which would produce a force of magnitude 150KN in the
member AB of the Cantilever Truss Shown in Figure. For this loading, determine the forces in
the members EF & EA of the Truss. (Using-Method of Sections).

4) Using methods of sections, determine the forces in members CD, ED and EF in the Truss as
shown in figure.

5) Find the forces in all the members of the truss shown in the figure

6) A car is traveling on a curved section of a track of radius 1000m at a speed of 100 km/h. the
breakers are then suddenly applied causing the car to slow down at a constant rate, after 10 sec
the speed has been reduced to 60 km/h. Determine the acceleration of the car immediately after
the breakers have been applied.

7) Two cars A and B are travelling in adjacent highway lakes and at t = 0 have the position and
speeds shown in figure. The car A has constant acceleration of 0.8m/sec2 and that B has a
constant deceleration of 0.6 m/sec2, determine.
a) When and where A will overtake B
b) The speed of each car at that time.

8) The step pulley shown in figure starts from rest and acceleration at 2 rad/s2. What time required
for block A to move 20 m? Find the velocity of A and B at that time.
