STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Dear ABC Elementary School Family,
I am honored to be joining the ABC Elementary community and serving as
your new Principal beginning in the 2019-2020 school year. I pledge my
unyielding commitment to serve in the best interest of all students, parents, faculty,
and staff.
The purpose of this entry plan is to detail goals, action steps and timeline of
plans of the first 90 days that I assume my role as Principal. Many of these entry
plan activities involve input and feedback from all stakeholders, including faculty,
staff, students, parents, and community organizations. This will assist in developing
and refining our goals as a school. It is through collaboration that we will create a
shared vision that will enable us to identify areas of strength and opportunities for
growth.

Elementary School as we embark on a new school year together!

During the 2019-2020, the following activities will result in the implementation of
this plan:

 Facilitate open dialogue opportunities with various stakeholder groups in


order to refine a shared vision and mission for our school.

 Create a school improvement team with staff, student, parent, teacher, and
community representation.

 Collect and analyze student achievement data and identify areas of


strengths and areas for improvement.

 Share data with stakeholders and identify goals based on student


achievement and areas of need.

 Meet with senior administration, grade level team leaders, content specialists
and other groups to determine areas of need.

 Identify potential areas of professional development, resource support, etc.

improvement.

 Determine professional development and resource needs that will support the
goals of the school.

 Create a schedule that will optimize student learning and instructional planning
for teachers in order to collaborate, make data-driven decisions, and plan for
instruction.

TIMELINE
The timeline to meet the 90-day entry plan goals is as follows:
Goal 1: Establish positive working and professional relationships with key
stakeholders to include students, parents, faculty, staff, and community members.
Action Timeline
Send letter of introduction in print and electronic form to July 2019
staff, students, and community members
Informal meet and greet with ABC faculty and staff July 2019
Summer meet and greet for students, families, and July 2019
community members
Post ABC Elementary School’s 90-day entry plan on school July 2019
website and email electronically for staff, faculty, and
families
Meet with the PTA board and SCA sponsor(s) to establish July 2019
a calendar and activities for the year. Establish roles,
responsibilities, budgeting, etc.
Hold a faculty meeting in which the school’s mission and August 2019
vision statements are revised/crafted
Hold grade level team meetings and facilitate discussions August 2019
with teachers and specialists in order to understand
various practices, teaching philosophies, and identify
strengths and needs
Host Conversations and Coffee with the Principal regularly; September 2019 and
topics submitted to Principal’s note electronically for ongoing
families and staff
Attend PTA and SCA meetings Ongoing

Goal 2: Analyze data trends in order to determine instructional strengths and


areas for improvement.
Action Timeline
Establish and meet with the Leadership Team to document August 2019 and
grade level feedback, data trends, and identify goals for ongoing
plan that complement school’s mission and vision
Develop goals relative to the school’s mission and vision to August 2019
include in the School Improvement Plan
Develop a calendar with the administrative team to August 2019
schedule formal observations, weekly walk-throughs, and
pre-post conferences with teachers
Create and maintain a system for gathering, analyzing, August 2019 and
and monitoring data using an electronic data wall ongoing

Goal 3: Determine professional development and resource needs that will support
the goals of the school.

Review past professional development topics – site-based July 2019

Create, distribute, and review needs survey in order to August 2019
pinpoint potential areas for PD; elicit feedback on
resource support.
Develop a schedule for professional development topics July 2019
based on discussions and survey.
Develop a coaching cycle with Reading and Math July 2019 and
Specialist based on professional development topics, and ongoing
observation feedback.
Develop norms and agendas for PLC meetings; use July 2019 and

Goal 4: Create a schedule that will optimize student learning and instructional
planning for teachers in order to collaborate, make data-driven decisions, and plan
for instruction.

Action Timeline
Review current schedules for each grade level and seek July/August 2019
input from grade level representatives, specialists, etc. on
any the adjustments needed
Schedule weekly PLC meetings in which leadership, August 2019
teachers, and specialists review ongoing data and
standards to plan for instruction across subject areas
Export and review assessment information with the Ongoing
reading and math specialists to determine caseloads for
intervention and watch-lists
Establish a peer-observation schedule for new teachers Ongoing
and/or teachers that have switched grade levels/subjects;
provide coverage for classes
Hold pre-conference and post-conference discussions with Ongoing
teachers; provide immediate feedback in written form on
walk-throughs and observations
Hold faculty meetings to discuss performance trends and Ongoing

Conduct safety walk-throughs and custodial checks with July 2019

Review budget with assistant principal and bookkeeper July 2019
Review office procedures with office staff July 2019
Review current IEP, 504, and Student Assistant Plans and July 2019
scheduling of meetings with Assistant Principal, Special
Education caseload managers, and School Counselor
Review student health records with Assistant Principal and July/August 2019
School Nurse; provide training to staff on handling special
cases
Develop a 2019-2020 master calendar of ABC July 2019

Create an assessment calendar with the Assistant Principal, August 2019
Reading/Math Specialist
Distribute class lists to teachers August 2019
Hold faculty meeting to review the schedule, procedures, August 2019
and upcoming activities/events for PD, workdays, and
beginning of the school year
Host a beginning of the year cook-out with staff for the August 2019
first day back
Schedule monthly staff appreciation days including Ongoing
breakfast/lunch/and treat carts in conjunction with Staff
Hospitality Team and PTA

NEXT STEPS
My 90-day entry plan will assist in focusing on necessary components to launching a
successful new school year for 2019-2020.
It is critical for all stakeholders to have an active presence and involvement in
various activities in the plan so that ABC Elementary School can continue on the path
to excellence. This will happen through ongoing opportunities for input, discussion,
and collaboration in order to create goals that fulfill our school’s mission and vision
in increasing student achievement and promoting success for all.
