Classroom Layout for Student Engagement

The classroom is arranged so that all desks face the whiteboard for direct instruction. The desks are in pairs for think-pair-share activities, but can be turned around for group work. There is a table in front of the teacher's desk for turn-in folders and journals, a bookshelf for a class library, and a reading corner in the back where students can read individually or in groups during silent reading time.

Ms. Tibbs Classroom Map
The classroom is set up so that all students will be able to see the whiteboard. The desks default is oriented in pairs because there will
be a lot of think-pair-share activities in my classroom. If group work is required chairs could easily be turned around to face their peers behind
them so that they can work in groups of four. There is a long table situated in front of the teachers desk where turn it in folders and class
journals would be located. In addition, there is a book shelf where I can build a class library for the students to use during silent reading time.
There is a reading corner in the back where students who would like to can sit and read during silent reading time. It can also be a place where
groups can meet. There is a table at the back of the room where students will pick up any sheets of papers that they will need for the class
period. The front of the room seemed to be the best place to put my desk, but I’m not entirely sure on that. I might consider that a bit more
going forward.
