DVHS Video/Film Project Grading Guidelines

Collaboration: The ability to be a productive member of teams through strong interpersonal


communication, a commitment to shared success, leadership, and initiative.
o The ability for your crew to work together as a director, writer and editor.

Curricular Literacy: The State of California and DVCA have identified key knowledge that students
should have when they graduate from high school. The grade reflects the student’s knowledge and
understanding of the concepts included in Content standards (Common Core, NGSS, etc.)
o The ability to meet the minimum criteria for the project.

Critical Thinking: Reflects the student’s ability to perform higher order thinking skills including
evaluation, synthesis and problem solving. Thinking analytically and creatively, using logical reasoning
and interpreting information
o The ability to produce a higher quality film for the theme by using advanced techniques in the
film making process.

Oral Communication: Da Vinci students articulate well-developed, complex ideas clearly and with
confidence. They are able to adapt their language to the context and task, with the poise to express
themselves to a variety of audiences.

Professionalism: Students show the ability to submit complete and timely work that meets the
expectations of academic and professional settings. Additionally, students demonstrate the ability to
meet dress and communication standards required for a professional environment.
o On presentation day, you will present in professional dress. You turn in the assignments on the
due date given and your assignment is school appropriate.

Technological Literacy: This grade reflects the student’s ability to use technology to complete tasks
and to enhance their performance. Many jobs require computer skills, technical knowledge and the
ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.
o The project is named correctly and rendered in the appropriate file format (h.264).

Written Communication: The ability to effectively communicate knowledge and thinking through
writing. This is demonstrated by organizing and structuring ideas, using discipline appropriate
language, and utilizing proper English Language conventions.
o The Ability to produce a script for your project meeting the minimum requirements for the
screenplay.
