Document Development Exposition: Instructions and Usability Memo

ENGL 2116

Explain in detail your document’s development from planning to finish, describing your
challenges, how you overcame them, and what you learned.

Planning
We were tasked to test users on the usability of a set of instruction on a website and revise those
instruction based on the users’ feedback. After the testing and reviewing the feedback, we decided
to simplify and improve the instructions to be clearer and more concise.

First Draft (for peer editing)

We divided up the tasks amongst us to complete the memo paper. When we completed most of the
paper, we start helping each other out to finish the paper, especially during the revision of the
instructions.

Second Draft (for your packet)

This wasn’t possible as the class was unable to do peer review of other memo papers.

Final Draft (for your portfolio)

There was difficulty in understand some of the revisions required for the paper, but most of the
revisions were accomplished. Overall, I learned how to revised a set of instructions and how old and
convoluted government websites are.
