EPortfpolios are not something that I have worked with very much in my life.
The only time
that I actually used one was in ENC 1101 to organize all of my work at the end of the semester to turn in. Normally I keep documents that have to do with each other in their own folder on my computer, but other than that one class I have never set up and or organized a proper ePortfolio. The site that I get inspiration from is actually the site to the private gym I used to work at in Georgia. It has a very simple layout to it, and you can find everything you would want very easily. The home page has its mission statement and the basics as to what is provided by the business. It is extremely easy to access because there are not a bunch of links to bring you to random places and make it hard to find something. The names of the menu items are: "Home," "About," "Getting Started," "Programs," "Online Training," "Athlete of the Month," "Blog," and "Contact." As a user and having worked in this field, all of these options make perfect sense to me. They help you know what and who the company is, and from there, they help you with the process of joining. It even helps to let you know where you want to go to read more about the options of what might come for you in the future, depending on the options you choose from. A lot of people that have not worked in this industry would ask why someone would add a blog to the website, but if they were to do research on it, they would realize a lot of private gym owner have this option on their site. This is a way they can motivate their clients or viewers without even being with them. Because the menu items are at the very top of each page, no matter what part of the site you are on, it makes navigating very easy. When I see a site immediately gives a bunch of options to click on, I tend to not like that site because I know it will be hard to navigate and that is not visually appealing to me. A simple site that tell you what you want to know is normally the easiest to use and the most visually appealing to look at. To add to the visual appeal, this site has at least one image on most pages, so that the viewer is not just staring at words. This makes the site much more appealing to a future client. Also, the site is made up of black and white, so that they contrast and are easy to see, and then the picture add the color needed to make it appealing.
