Abstract:
The review of the book “KNOW CAN DO ”, written by Mr.Ken Blanchard presents the critical
analysis on the stimulus that urged the author to write the book .This also showcases various
valid inferences stating on what led to a gap between “What We Know –What We Do” ,that were
covered in the book. This review also suggests some practices that can be opted in EENADU.
Background of the book:
The author of the book Mr.Ken Blanchard was very satisfied with his career as a
successful author of motivational books to only found out all his teachings are in vain as NO
ONE has ever implemented them. In that scenario he happened to see an article of Mr Paul
J. Meyer,(whom Author refers as Entrepreneur Extraordinary) , named “The Missing Link”—
what is needed to put the know- how you gain into action. That was the beginning of Know
Can Do.
Review:
 Always there has been a gap between the information we collected and the action we
do…that is putting the Know-How into action has been a great problem.
 Mr.Paul gave to Author The reasons for the gap and the possible follow-up systems to
make sure that people act on what they know. He stresses on the Missing Link
“Repetition ...Repetition..Repetition” as the key to overcome the gap.
Reasons for the Gap:
1. Information Overload:
People are more interested in collecting the information than making use of existing
information which will result in mental Traffic Jam. This immobilizes us.
2. Negative Filtering:
We humans have a mechanism of filleting the data we receive. We listen, understand
with a prejudiced mind which makes us to doubt on the possibilities. We receive only
very less amount of information that we are supposed to receive.
3. Lack of Follow-Up:
With no regular follow –up people might forget the habits they have learnt. It is the most
difficult road block of others.

Recommendations for our organistion:
 We can make our mangers to meet others at least twice or trice in year from all the units
so that they can share their ideas & Problems. Unlike regular training, no knowledge
sharing from our end during those interactions we should be mere facilitators (As
Practiced by Mr.Herb , HR Director ),which is even asked by our employees.
 Every topic should be trained twice but in two different manners.
 Third party follow Up can be implemented in long run once the above two are inculcated.
Conclusion:
True learning is the change in behavior which can be done through the Missing Link
“Repetition...Repetition…Repetition.” And this writing provides best possible solutions to
the problems in the process of training. It removed all my existing doubts about the
perfect training procedure.
