Instructions: This activity is basically a theoretical-based assessment. In accomplishing this task, the
group is enjoined to read and analyze carefully each test item. After such, it is imperative to present a
clear, clean and orderly solution-process for every problem and always box the final answer. Use separate
sheet (short bond paper) for the given task.

1.) A rectangular box has a square based with edges at least 10 centimeter long. It has no top, and the
total area of its five sides is 600 square centimeters. What is the maximum volume of the box?
(Express final answer in decimal notation when the case demands)
2.) A farmer has 800 meter of fencing material to enclose a rectangular pen adjacent to a long existing
wall. He will use the wall for one side of the pen and the available fencing material for the remaining
three sides. What is the maximum area that can be enclosed this way? (Express final answer in
decimal notation when the case demands)
3.) A rectangle with a fixed perimeter of 64 units is rotated about one of its sides, thus, sweeping out a
figure of a right circular cylinder. What is the maximum volume of the cylinder? (Express final
answer in decimal notation when the case demands)
4.) A 10 meter wire is cut in two pieces. One piece is used to form a circle, the other to form a square.
How should the wire be cut so that the sum of the areas of the circle and the square is a minimum?
(Express final answer in decimal notation when the case demands)
