Un Ballo in Maschera by Verdi.

Synopsis.
The king, Ricardo, is in love with Amelia, his best friend’s wife. Renato, the best
friend catches the king kissing someone but she covers her face with her vail
before he can see who she is. Ricardo asks Renato to take the lady home but
he is not allowed to remove her vail. On their way home they come across a
group of conspirators who are plotting to kill the king, Amelia is worried the
conspirators will kill Rento so she drops her vail. Once Renato realises his wife
has been having an affair, he asks the conspirators if he can join and to kill the
king. In the masquerade ball, Renato approaches Oscar, the page boy, and asks
what Ricardo is wearing, Oscar teases him but eventually tells him. The opera
ends with Renato stabbing Ricardo.
