Impact of Online Travel Agent for Hotel

Online travel agencies provide such options for customers with just a few clicks of a mouse.

Due to the ability of OTA’s to discount rates on their portals, customers tend to prefer booking

with them. The attractiveness of the rates and the visibility of hotel rooms and facilities push

customers to stay at the hotel. The most guest book to the OTA the most commission that we

have to give to the OTA also. And it will decrease direct booking to the hotel because usually

the rates of the rooms will be different between the hotel and the OTA. Since then, OTAs

themselves have jumped into the 'best rate' game and have worked out this thing called 'rate

parity'. Each OTA wants a commitment from each hotel with whom it does business that the rate

offered through it by the hotel is the lowest publicly-available rate available anywhere online.

Prospect of Online Travel Agent for Hotel

An important thing that OTA’s bring to our hotel. With increased hotel bookings come

the need for more employees in hotels, restaurants and tourist sites to be able to cater

for the numbers. This opens the way for more unemployed people to be absorbed into

the hospitality sectors.

The benefits of OTA’s go way beyond the above listed and their impact on tourism as

well as hospitality is great. However, a perfect balance has to be struck between all

partners and stakeholders involved for an effective and successful outcome. When all

systems work well, everyone benefits.
