Project Proposal: Sea Adventure Leadership Training (SALT)

Background
The Eagle Scouts Organization of the Philippines-Aklan Chapter will conduct a Sea Adventure
Leadership Training (SALT) to equip scouts with the necessary skills for water survival.Whereas, scouts
lack on water-based activities.

Objectives

 To complete the merit badges requirements of Swimming and Emergency Preparedness


 To equip scouts with the necessary skills for water survival.
 To provide fundraising activity in our organization (Eagle Scout Organization of the Philippines-
Aklan Chapter)

Scope

First, it is an on-the-move or mobile camp; this pertains to the locations changing everyday to address
the different situations in varied bodies of water. Supposing it will be held a period of not less than three (3)
days and not more five (5) days.The Boy Scouts of the Philippines-Aklan Council will coordinate with the
Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and the Red Cross-Aklan Chapter for assistance
in enlisting a roster of qualified training staff.
Most importantly the main focus would be a response to sea, river, and pool set ups. In most cases
the proposed training matrix would include 1) raft making, water signalling, and camp set up in a sea
simulation, 2) river crossing on a rope with victim and practicing various flotation methods and alternative
devices, and 3) the culminating activity (an application of rescue swimming, CardioPulmonary Resuscitation
and/or Artificial Respiration along with other life saving techniques).

Monitoring and Evaluation

After this training course surely will have responsive, skilled and knowledgeable scouts during in
times of emergency and have good term relationship with other agencies mentioned above during
training.
