Document Development Exposition: Instructions and Usability Memo

ENGL 2116

Explain in detail your document’s development from planning to finish, describing your
challenges, how you overcame them, and what you learned.

Planning
There were many challenges at the start of the memo packet, in a group we had to alter a website’s
original instructions, and they were not easy to follow and barely completable, some links were
missing, a few steps needed clarification or it could be done in one step, and it was all compressed,
meaning there wasn’t good spacing.

First Draft (for peer editing)

N.A. Because we had to create a final draft based on what the other users’ comments based on the
original instructions.

Second Draft (for your packet)

Important changes were made, steps were clarified, added some screen shots and pictures of
buttons on some steps for even more clarification, combined some steps in order to make this as less
time consuming and to reduce the compellability, and correct hyperlinks were added.

Final Draft (for your portfolio)

The original final document was nearly perfect but there were some changes that had to be made,
some changes were made like the formatting and the placement of pictures, removal of extra
spaces, specifications on how many users answered yes or no to a specific question, formatting of
text and adding of a space. I have learned how to make step by step instructions more easy to
understand.
