Document Development Exposition: White Paper

ENGL 2116

Explain in detail your document’s development from planning to finish, describing your
challenges, how you overcame them, and what you learned.

Planning
In order to plan the white paper a prep doc was used to establish important aspects of the
paper such as audience, sources, an outline, and a style guide. By using this guide while
writing the document I was able to constantly remind myself what audience I should be
writing to. This helped me not get sidetracked or go on a tangent while talking about my
topic.

First Draft (for peer editing)

For the first draft I decided that I wanted to answer the main "W" questions. What is
happening, why is it happening l, who does it affect and how can we change it. Using this
general outline I wrote about the information I found from the reaktion book as well as a few
online resources and eventually had a first draft.

Second Draft (for your packet)

Based on the feedback given to me by my peers I changed the headings to be more
descriptive as well as added more pictures. Also, at the time I didn't have a conclusion just a
solution section, so I added the conclusion section. One reviewer also said I should reduce
the size of H2 headings.

Final Draft (for your portfolio)

For the thirst draft I was told my document, while well written, did not confirm to the project
guidelines. This was mainly due to the conclusion where I stated that global warming had no
direct solutions but many indirect ones. To solve this I rewrote the conclusion to not specify
the fact there isn't one solution but a global effort to be more forward in the idea that the
solution is the global effort. The paper, reads more like a solution to the problem instead of
an open-ended proposal.
