Document Development Exposition: Correspondence

ENGL 2116

Explain in detail your document’s development from planning to finish, describing your
challenges, how you overcame them, and what you learned.

Planning
For my email part, since my topic is about wildfire, I would like to write to the USDA Forest Service
asking them questions about wildfire. Then there is the question that the design needs to ask. At this
point, it is difficult to ask a lot of questions about the gods, so I chose questions that people have
heard but can't specifically understand.
For my letter part, I would like to assume my own USDA writer and am writing a report about how to
help residents living in places where wildfire is frequent. And I need to apply to Firestorm Wildland
Fire Suppression, INC. for information they have.

First Draft (for peer editing)

First draft basically designed the questions that email and letter want to ask, and in general I have
some understanding of the tone and style that the two articles need, then try to integrate it into the
article. After that, I have some thoughts on the two headings, but limited by my level of production,
and the lack of opinions of others, I can only show my ideas first so that my classmates can help me
review.

Second Draft (for your packet)

After getting the opinions of the classmates, the heading design was partially modified, and the size
of the font and the spacing between the paragraphs were also adjusted. But the problem is still that
it's a little hard to understand the difference between the tone of letter and email and how to get
your identity into it.

Final Draft (for your portfolio)

In this draft, the first step is to have a deeper understanding of the design of heading, and to
improve the size of the icon, the choice of fonts and the contrast of colors. After that, I would like to
think of myself as a person in the company, and to write emails and letters from the perspective of
workers. This brought me a more novel experience which may help me adapted for the future work.
