Thank you for downloading. I hope
this resource is fun and engaging
for your students!
Directions: Students should read the passage 3 times. There are boxes at the
end of the passage so they can check off each time they read it. It might be
helpful for some students to fold the paper in half so they only see the story
while they read.

As they read, students can highlight (or just color with yellow crayon) all the
words in the selected word family.

There are 3 text evidence questions for the passage where the students use
crayons or colored pencils to underline where the answers are found in the text.
They can circle the correct answer, and also write it in the blank if you choose.

Finally, there is a space at the end with a prompt to draw a picture. This will
help the students make text to self connections.
Example:
