SHRIMP VICHE

The necessary ingredients for the preparation of the "Viche" are: shrimp, ground
peanuts, sweet potatoes, corn, young beans, yucca, carrot, sweet cooking banana,
plantain balls, minced garlic, salt, coriander and lemon.

At the moment of serving the shrimp viche, add a little coriander and lemon to taste and
accompany it with a little rice.

The shrimp viche costs between $ 2.50 and $ 3.50 in many places on the Ecuadorian
coast, but my favorite place is "The Manaba Corner" which is located in front of the
UTM; and something that identifies the Manabas is that the river shrimp is used instead
of the sea shrimp, which gives a special flavor to this delicious dish.
CEVICHE
The preparation of the ceviche: Tomatoes are grated, lemons ares queezed and onions.
Peppers, salt and fish or shimp are added.
This typical dish is prepared in different ways in different places, but I think that place
is prepares best in the cevicheria “Laurita” that is located on Quito Street diagonal to the
catedral.
This ceviche casts $5 and depending on the seafood that is going to be ordered, it can be
more expensive, but usually the mixed shimp with fish is requested, wich costs $6. This
cevicheria differs from the others in that their prepration is unique, all mixed ingredients
came unilike others places that they put every thing separately and are not as good.
The preparation of crab
In a large pot boil the water with onions, garlic, minced, pepper, salt, spices, hearbs
and parsley, add well-washed crabs, and plantains or cut crabs in pieces, but with peel.
Once boiled we start to cook the crab for 15 minutes. We add the beer, let it boil 5
minutes more. Let the crab cool for 5 minutes in the boiled water. Serve it sweet
cooking bananas or fried plantains, prices range from $2.80 (a crab), but depending on
the amount of crabs consumed by the customer.
The Tonga.

It is a typical dish of Rocafuerte, which is a great favorite in the province of Manabí.


The ingredientes of this delight are peanuts, chicken, sweet cooking banana and rice,
that are mixed and wrapped in plantain leaves that, when cooked in a wooden oven,
their flavors are fused giving It, as a result an exquisitez taste. You can find It along the
Tosagua by pass.

This recipe is accompanied by a seasoning made by Mrs Trinita and this typical dish
can be obtained at a price of one dollar and seventy-five cents. It also prepared by
families to share or when they are traveling and carrying this delight to feed them.
