MODULE 9 – ANALYZING DATA

1. How well is the class doing as a whole group? Provide two statements.

According to the data, the class average is 67%. This is typically a C – or a D +, either way it is not
what most teachers strive for their students to achieve. Based off these results, if I were the
teacher, I would have to either re-evaluate the exam I administered. Was it too difficult? Did I
not adequately cover the material? Or I would have to re-test the students, if time permits. The
students may have had too long of a break from the material, i.e. spring or winter break.

However, since Juan was able to successfully complete the exam without any incorrect answers
the class may have not understood the material, but it was certainly taught. Juan may have been
able to conceptualize the material better than the rest. I would still say the class is not doing
very well overall. They did not achieve the safe standard of a 75%.

2. Which individuals are doing well and in what topics? Describe at least 3 students.

Juan is doing extremely well, he had a perfect score. He was able to show his proficiency of all
the topics covered by the exam.

Cody is also doing well. He scored a 93%, which is still considered an A. He answered all the
subtraction questions right and was also able to answer 80% of the addition questions correctly.

There were a couple of students that scored 80s. They appeared to do well in addition. For
example, Hugh scored an 80% and was able to answer all of the addition questions correctly.

3. Who may need extra support and on what topics? Describe at least 3 students.

Patrick, Sarah, Molly, and Claire scored in the 50s. It appears that subtraction is what gave them
the most difficulty.

Nathan scored a 47% and he also encountered issues with subtraction.

Luke scored a 40%, which was the lowest grade of the class. He seems to have issues with both
subtraction and addition. The scores he earned for both categories were the same.
