Q1

I’m in my second year studying journalism at UQ. I’m quite passionate about journalism and I am
quite closely involved with the JACTECH crew at university where I helped film two events at UQ.

As a crew member, I was in charge of setting up cameras and filmed the ABC pitch information night
which was held last year.

I also ensured that guests were well miced and were well placed for filming. So I was able to use my
skills with camera work to help with the filming of the event.

I’ve also worked for the ABC where I worked with journalists and producers and used recorded
information to help them in the writing of promotional news articles for a live streaming service that
the ABC was doing about animals.

So I’ve had some experience working both behind the scenes as well as working with journalists and
I’m looking to further utilize those skills as a technician.

Tell me about …

Why should we hire you?

Having worked as a cameraperson as a part of a team filming the ABC pitch information night for U, I
would be able to use those skills to learn to effectively work with cameras to shoot live crosses and
press conferences efficiently. In addition, having helped set up three gests in the studio for the
filming of the ABC pitch information night, I would be able to help set up guests and hosts in the
studio for filming. In addition, my experience helping producers and journalists create promotional
videos and articles for the ABC LiveOz project would allow me to work effectively in a team
environment.
So I would be work well with producers and journalists and I would be able to bring the necessary
technical experience to this role.
