Its exterior is composed of a protec. tion frame on top for manhole and safety devices, safely bracket (on the front, rear, left, and right) for Preventing the tank from rolling down in case of ve. hicle overturn, and @ hose storage box. Its inside is Partitioned into completely isolated compartments; each compartment has an battle plate designed to pre. vent oils from surging when stopping the vehicle or changing direction abruptly, On the top ofthe tank, @ round manhole for receiving cil Is installed on each compartment. The manhole cover is. mounted with a hatch type inlet por, a safety valve, and a disc type cil level gauge. Undemeath the tank, a bot- tom valve having an emergency closing device is installed on each compartment, and these valves can be opened ‘or closed easily by using the ON/OFF handle on the bottom valve on the top of the tank. PIPING Piping is composed of bottom valves (1) having emer- gency closing device for each compartment, main pip- ing (2) connected to these valves, piping (3) connect- ing the suction and discharge circuits, pump (4), 4-way valve (5) having 4 functions of suction, discharge (pumping), discharge (natural), and stop, and 2-way valve (6) mounted on both sides of the tank front to Perform function as suction and discharge ports, In ad- dition, at the pump suction side, there is a strainer (7) altached to extend the pump service fe by filtering contaminants. At the pump discharge side, there is a bypass valve (8) mounted to prevent pressure in- crease, (1) Strainer The strainer filters contaminants from oils and the inside of pipes to extend the service life of the pump and valves. 19 PETROLEUM TANK LORRY 2way valve ‘SUCTION DISCHARGE (NATURAL) Aeway valve. ea Riot valve (2) 2-way valve This valve allows oil passing through the 4-way valve to be descharged through the discharge hose or shuts off oil flow. (8) 4-way valve This valve is used for suction, discharge(pumping), stop, and discharge(natural) of oil flow, and each function is as follows: SUCTION: DISCHARGE: (PUMPING) DISCHARGE: (NATURAL) STOP: Forcing oil to flow into the pump from the 2-way valve Discharging oil flow, which has passed the pump from the tank, to the 2-way valve Discharging oil directly to the 2-way valve, not through the pump Allowing oil to circulate in the piping and pump without being discharged outside - Bypass valve operation (4) Relief valve (Bypass valve) This valve feed oll back to the pump if internal pres- sure of piping reaches 2kgl/em? or more at pump ‘operation for oil suction or discharge. (5) Emergency valve If emergencies occur outside or when oil is being discharged, use this valve (located underneath the tank) to shut off oil flow within the tank. This emer- gency valve is mounted in each compartment and connected to the rod, and consequently, can be operated as a whole by the emergency lever in- stalled on the rear part of the vehicle. 20 PETROLEUM TANK LORRY BASSES Bottom vaive hi BE RIE 2EEEES REG ESE Bee ea GIS ISE BEEEES EGER BEE SAR BARASR BREE ESSE FESSSS SASS AAAS: 010380) Drive shaft Gear pump ot0320] (6) Bottom valve ‘This valve is installed underneath the tank and de- livers oil of the tank to the 4-way valve and piping Itis mounted for each compartment and integrated with the emergency valve as one set. The open/ close part of the bottom valve is connected to the rod and opened or closed by using the handle lo- cated on the top of the tank. Disc type oil level gauge The disc type oil level gauge Is installed in the center, of each compartment. Using this gauge enables check- ing for proper oil flow on the top of the tank. Safety valve Gas is produced if the oil in the tank is surged while the vehicle is running. If internal pressure in the tank rises (0.3kg/em?), this valve is actuated automatically to reduce internal pressure. Gear pump This is a system where the power generated in the transmission is transferred through the PTO drive shaft to the gear pump. As the pump takes in the oil in the tank, the gear in the pump is actuated to increase delivery pressure, with the result that the into the piping. 24 PETROLEUM TANK LORRY 5.
