Foldable Short Story 

 
You will develop a short story that includes all of the elements 
of your foldable. Use the guidelines below to develop your 
story. 
 
1. Select two nonfiction articles with similar topics from 
NewsELA.  
2. Read the articles and pull 5 details from each article that 
you are going to include in your story. 
3. Plan your short story using the plot chart provided to you 
4. Develop your characters using the characterization 
handout (5 characters MAX) 
a. You must include a protagonist 
b. You must include an antagonist 
c. There must be at least one static character 
d. One of your characters must be dynamic 
3. Your short story must be written in third person. 
4. There must be an internal and external conflict 
5. You must include an example of parallel episodes or subplot 
6. You must use 4 literary terms.  
7. By the end of your story, a theme should be evident.  
 
Your short story must be between 2-3 pages long.
